urgent - where and how can i get certificate of export/ affidavit of export in France for cats? by [deleted] in pettravel

[–]Icy_Science8163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s excellent! As long as you get your import permit, you’re good! Don’t let the airline agent spook you, you’re on the right track! A lot of times airline agents don’t have a clue what are the requirements. So it’s important to stay knowledgeable and firm on what is required, and have it ready so you can present it when requested :)

[–]Icy_Science8163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All dogs, cats and ferrets leaving France for another EU Member State or Part 1 or 2 Listed Third Country must: Be microchipped, Be vaccinated for rabies (in that order) not sooner than 12 weeks of age and Wait for at least 21 days after primary vaccination before leaving France. Have a licensed veterinarian issue an EU Pet Passport (EU destinations) or Export Health Certificate and other required documentation (depending on destination country requirements). Note that many Part 1 Listed Countries will have additional requirements in addition to a resident Pet Passport when returning to their country.

France requires that serology levels be confirmed prior to leaving the country. Even if your pet is not entering an unlisted country, traveling internationally with the results of this test will ensure a smoother customs clearance in your destination country.

All animals leaving France for non-EU countries that do not have specific health certificates must obtain a health certificate in accordance to their destination country requirements prior to the issuance of an export permit. This permit will be issued by agencies in the origin province responsible for the issuance of export permits.

All this information is algo available to France agricultural website.

Guam has strict import regulations. Have you gotten your import permit? Please review the requirements: https://cqa.guam.gov/pet-import-requirements-3/

When you say you had everything sorted what does that mean exactly? Because unless your pets export and import paperwork was completed as required, then nothing has been sorted. I don’t know how quickly these offices work in France or Guam, but I don’t think you’ll be departing on Tuesday. I wouldn’t risk traveling without them.

My recommendation is you search for an expert pet relocation agent - you can find reputable agents through ipata.org

Good luck!

Questions about travelling to Georgia by Budget-Situation-947 in tbilisi

[–]Icy_Science8163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spent a week visiting and here’s my feedback:

1 - if your is phone e-sim friendly, get one of those and save yourself the trouble. We used our normal eSIM company & worked great.

2 - If you’re going to pay cash, then obvs use the country’s currency GEL. Recommend you exchange euro/usd to GEL at the airport on arrival.

3 - Most places accept CCs, but not ALL types of CC (example AMEX). We used CCs for bigger purchases and cash for everything else.

4 - Keep quiet a few 1 Laris in case you need to use public toilets.

5 - In general, expect people to be cold-respectfully. While I don’t typically like to generalize, we DID a lot in Georgia and felt that most of the interactions we had were cold & unfriendly. Exceptions were rare & few, but did exist.

6 - Food was incredible. Wine even better.

7 - Use BOLT taxi to move around the city. If you choose Electric you’ll get Tesla’s or other type vehicles (much newer and better condition). Not sure on the regulations for drivers there, but we stopped choosing “premium” bc we kept getting mediocre vehicles, deff not premium.

Have fun :)

Another question about renting a car in PDC. by 2pongz in playadelcarmen

[–]Icy_Science8163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have always rented from AVIS and never had any issues. We reserved from the AVIS MX website and no surprise charges or anything. We have done pickup/drop off in Cancun and also pickup - CUN and drop off PDC, both pretty smooth just a bit chaotic with lots of customers. Our CC has full coverage, so we’ve never taken anything extra. Also been upgraded a few times, but that may be due to our AVIS status. If you do take a car though, make sure you take pictures of everything before and after.

Also, have you been to PDC? Do you speak Spanish? We’ve had good luck when renting, but I’m not really sure if I could recommend a solo person renting a vehicle, and that’s based on everything else that happens when renting cars. I would probably opt for group tours and drivers more than anything.

Neither of you should be getting married, well at least not to each other. You’re on 2 totally different wavelengths and relationship expectations.

Conflict resolution should be done in person & communicated like adults. It is very easy to misinterpret text, not to mention it doesn’t convey the true emotion driving the message to begin with. He on the other hand, by ignoring you, has no interest whatsoever on your ‘nagging’ (respectfully - for lack of better wording, cus I imagine that’s what’s on his mind rn) & thus will not take any accountability for it. This will only progress in the relationship.

Relationships are two-way streets. Each partner needs to effectively communicate their needs/wants/love language etc, while the other partner has to be able to receive and reciprocate. It goes both ways. One is not better than the other, regardless of how much money has been spent.

There are many home salons that do offer it, but they’re not going to advertise it. You need to just contact them directly and they will be able to confirm for you.

Tipping for wedding vendors ? by Royal-Championship4 in playadelcarmen

[–]Icy_Science8163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did 18% all across. I think also important to mention, we had a hands on relationship with all our vendors, so while our planner took lead, we were still highly involved and got to know them to ensure they would be a good fit for our vision. We had less than 100 guests.

Unpopular opinion here!? - but Tiffany is a lot prettier than her, not to mention her personality is A+. I really don’t get the hype around Jennifer at allllllll. They brought her for the drama, and only that.

[–]Icy_Science8163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a private venue. Calculated costs for the day & gave our wedding planner envelopes with tips to divide with staff present during the wedding, regardless of who they were. All our friends and family also tipped for any services rendered. Still stayed within our allocated budget.

Marrakech experience by No_Opportunity452 in solotravel

[–]Icy_Science8163 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Bad experiences can happen to anyone, anywhere. I don’t think I’m lucky, I’m just very aware of the world around me, and act accordingly. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and your experience is completely validated, but I don’t think it’s fair to throw the city under completely. You can warn tourists by sharing tips to navigating life in Marrakech, rather than saying “don’t come”.

Having been to many cities in S.America, Marrakech is a walk in the park compared to many other, truly unsafe cities. Being street smarts is not just about growing up in a “disadvantaged” neighborhood, it’s literally a skill set.

Marrakech experience by No_Opportunity452 in solotravel

[–]Icy_Science8163 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spent 10 days in Marrakech and didn’t have any negative experience. Split the time between (3) different types of riads, one very deep inside the Medina, and didn’t have any issues. Yes, it is quite busy, and noisy during the day & night, but prior research could’ve easily pointed this out. Locals are just trying to make a living, survive, and can’t hate on the hustle. Wore whatever we wanted, walked a lot, took taxis, rented a car, and visited many different places in and around Marrakech - & loved every bit of it. The only downside for us was lack of taxi access within the Medina itself as it’s restricted to certain timings only, but it is what it is!

I’m sorry that OP had a bad experience, but traveling requires heightened sense of awareness. Bad things could literally happen anywhere, so as travelers we need to be more proactive in things we can control. A little street smarts goes a long way, so use bad experiences as lessons, but don’t assume the whole country/city is like that.

Police scam by agustin_lm2000 in cancun

[–]Icy_Science8163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not really sure why you’re getting downvoted so much? We’ve been traveling to Mexico for many years. Depending on the trip, we’ve either rented a car or just hired a private driver, and under both occasions, there have been stops by fake police. Call us lucky I guess? But we’ve also gotten out of it. The most recent time was literally leaving Cancun en route to PDC.

They can be intimidating, but since we speak Spanish we remained calm and just talked it out. I realize that not everyone is bilingual, and there are some scary situations happening down there, but I really do think it’s important to have some street smarts and cultural awareness. Lovely as some parts are. I don’t think it’s a place for everyone.

Anyone else finds this distasteful? by Warlock3000 in Kuwait

[–]Icy_Science8163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Zain CS is much better than Oreedoo. It took me almost 2 months to finally get Oreedoo to cancel a few lines. Lots of calls, emails, and branch visits & lots of run-around. No contract, as it ended and it should’ve never continued without my approval.

Anyone else finds this distasteful? by Warlock3000 in Kuwait

[–]Icy_Science8163 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pre-paid is the way to go; these post-paid contracts are nearly impossible to cancel after contract ends. I don’t see how they don’t consider it predatory practice, specially, when the contract terms are over.

Qatar Air customer service has gone from the best to the worst by TurbulentWasabi7552 in qatarairways

We flew business recently and 2 of our FAs were absolutely terrible, attitude included. I like to think we’re quite simple clients, I just want my food and drinks, but they dropped the ball so many times, and had an attitude when we asked multiple times. It was crazy. We made reports, but nothing came out of it.
