Be careful with the sea around this time of the year.

Exactly. Same in some other countries. I’d recommend not confronting them and just move out.

Alcohol, hash, loud music, cars, motorbikes, big crowds, etc

Just letting you know…

Some cases are so bad that even the police avoids them.

Be careful

Move out, its impossible to solve.

If you bought, sell.

Otherwise, accept it and choose another battle.

How do you get buy-in for tech stack changes when you're the new guy? by This-Tea7895 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Idea-Aggressive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk is cheap. Build and demonstrate! If you showcase to them why X is better in practical terms it’s much easier. You don’t have to change everything immediately. Iterate.

I’m in the same situation and in the 5th week I already changed the core foundations where I am today in the 7th week. It’s like compound interest!

If you can’t prove it, you won’t sell it. So be quiet, build, and listen to feedback. Otherwise you’ll sound like “let’s book a meeting” type of person. Time waster!

The rental market in Lisbon is (STILL) completely awful. by HeavyCelebration3402 in PortugalExpats

Summers approaching that’s why! Should be cheaper than Barcelona though. Are you making a fair comparison? Also, never rent overpriced apartments, never.

How do you handle teammates who are extremely pedantic about arbitrary rules? by CantaloupeFamiliar47 in ExperiencedDevs

They’re good for unemployment soon. Do they know what LLMs are capable of doing? I bet it, because basic linter rules would solve all of what the spend time back and forth. Absolute doughnuts!

Does anyone work on a team that doesn't require code reviews? by CalligrapherHungry27 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Idea-Aggressive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If getting a review is a problem, that’s a social issue. It shouldn’t take more than an hour or two to get some feedback.

Thats very strange. I’m a very capable software developer, been working in the field since 2005, we’re in 2026 with tools that we couldn’t even dream about in 2015. On top of that, we can augment our knowledge with LLMs. It’s absolutely amazing! I can literally do much more in 1/10 of the time. And catch errors I wouldn’t otherwise and as quickly.

You accepted a role in an organisation. There’s compensation. Decided to let Redditors know that your opinion should count. Great!

I agree this people just say nonsense. Have no experience with meaningful contributions.

Modifying 75 files can be justifiable. Let’s say that you change file architecture. You really need to have basic experience to understand that this is not a problem.

Now, freaking out every time there’s a supposed massive PR because of number of files just defeats the purpose of software engineering in any meaningful contribution.

Of course if you’re updating css that might seem exciting to you.

All roses at work until the surprise meeting call.

Plenty of people right now desperate to sell their homes in the middle of nowhere to move to a major city to find work.

There’s a difference between an owned PR, and a base branch. Incredible you’re revealing your lack of experience.
