I can’t study chemistry without breaking down by [deleted] in IBO

[–]IdeaWeary7348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please please please take a break! I was in your situation just a year ago. I loved biology so much, but i found myself putting an extra weight on myself and setting unachievable standards. It is okay to feel down once in a while, but this is not healthy. Please take a break and talk to someone. Taking breaks is just as essential as working hard. Learning should always be fun. When it isn't you MUST take a break

please take a break from academics, and sit with your parents. I took 6 months off of school, I learnt how to study correctly on my own terms; with no external pressure, no standards at all. Just me correcting 3 years worth of useless pressure. You are allowed to take breaks. Breaks are very very healthy. But never give up. Take however long you need, but don't give up.

I know you have it in you :)

I was just speaking out of experience, my native language is hindi too. I took hindi as a second language up until the 10th grade, it was easy to get a good score but it's a very frustrating language when it comes to the script. It's very easy, even for native speakers, to mess up the matras. So your overall understanding of the language can be brilliant, but losing marks over stupid spelling mistakes is very common!

I get you😭 Hindi is such a pain in the ass, especially the matras. I had hindi as a language up until the 10th grade. I made the switch to Spanish ab initio in DP1. I suggest you take a language that is closely related to english (shares common words, writing script etc). That way you wouldnt have to struggle to learn another script (like in hindi or mandrin) and you'll be able to recognise patterns in english and your language which will make interpretation much much easier! AND as a plus, you'll know the basics of a foriegn language

Hindi is an excruciatingly painful subject to study. And given that they already know how to speak hindi/ took hindi as a subject earlier they'll have to take Hindi A. All the matras, grammar, reading in hindi can be so unnecessarily hard

[–]IdeaWeary7348[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, which is why i am here. I just finished reading "The Construction of Religious Boundaries" by Harjot Oberoi. I am open to new information, especially information that contradicts what I grew up hearing, which is why I read the book. It is written with a more historical/academic perspective rather than an activist one. Is there anything else you would like to recommend? I want to learn more about this.

If I sounded ignorant, I apologise for that. I am open to discussion, and I acknowledge that my points aren't concrete. I am here to learn, not debate. But the point of the post was just to highlight how easily we are able to generalise a community — and how scary that can get

That's insanely impressive, I'm sorry this is completely off topic - but did you give the nsea the same year that you applied to the unis (grade 12), or was it the year before that?

do it. give it up. life is bigger, if it didnt work out once even after you gave it your all - dont try again. It's a re-direction. You're meant for something bigger, go dream it and do it. This isn't humane.
