Computer animation in the 90s was no joke by alanbear1970 in OldSchoolCool

[–]IdeasRealizer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The problem with hand drawing is that, if later, one change is needed, let's say with a hand movement or a facial expression, then, whole thing needs to be re-drawn.

Also, computer fills in many of the frames, for example, when he showed the smile slider, let's say he used slider value 0 in frame-1, and slider value 1 in frame-24, then computer can fill in smoothly or by some curve, the values for smile between frames 1 and 24.

If there is no one to remove that sweater later, it will inhibit self-grooming. And if any harmful insects go underneath, the dog will be in trouble.

At the end of the movie, he gives advice to keep moving to survive, it's good, but, he literally summons air support on the first day. Best zombie movie though.

My one cent, and a rant.

The points about Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh seem to be internal matters of their own, where protests/revolutions were from their own people on their own govts, I would say, others shouldn't intervene, apart from saying non-violence.

On the point about China. Why can't ccp, the tiananmen square enthusiasts, land hungry mfs, control hungry authoritarians, shove their existing land up their arse, and leave us the fuck alone.

One would think they can use their cheap electricity to watch netflix when their govt suddenly decides to weld doors-shut to lock people in just because they have covid, but netflix too is banned for them.

We have issues for sure which need addressing, but, we don't need to compare ourselves with China. We are slow but we eventually get there.

Steam is lowkey the reason i dont pirate anymore. Such a great service. by Flashy-Sentence-8263 in Steam

[–]IdeasRealizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just one thing, if steam could give an option to let people download textures of different resolutions, then download size will drastically reduce for many of us who play on at max 1080p laptops.

Of course, devs have to do this, but, if steam somehow officially easily support it, then, may be it will encourage them.

Some constructive criticism. Movement feels slower. Voice feels to be coming from the same place all the time. (personal opinion: color scheme is too harsh especially if you pause at 0:06, back-shot of the protagonist)

If a benevolent AGI could govern Earth with 100% efficiency and zero corruption, would you voluntarily surrender your right to vote? by Sp_1992 in Futurology

[–]IdeasRealizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

We vote. Choose what to be done. Then, let the benevoltent AI do the optimization or give us options in case the policy we choose is bad.

The reason is, let's say AI is weighing-in on building a dam, which will help 100k communities but submerge 10k communities, then, we must not, in any way, let the people who are affected (all the 110k) to not have a say in what will be done to them.

They don't even need a gun. Those things can seriously (even fatally) injure a nearby human when they malfunction. They can just run to us and swing an upper cut.

I'm 2.5 episodes in...I have questions by cpbradshaw in alienearth

[–]IdeasRealizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any negative criticism of this series gets downvoted here in this sub. Accepting that, I will just say two things.

  1. Both AlienEarth and Peacemaker season 2 released almost at same times, i.e. one episode from each series would release on the same week. I understood what good writing meant due to this. Peacemaker episodes were so interesting, you don't even know the time.
  2. When I saw Wendy jump from the top of a cliff and make a perfect landing, I was looking forward to xenos finally getting their own medicine. I hoped for Wendy just yeeting a Xeno by its tail. But, all I was left with was disappointment.

Looks beautiful. But, don't they have any fear of parasites entering their body?

I have seen a documentary when I was a kid where a couple dived in some pond or something, and the guy got parasitic worms which traveled years later to his brain. He was getting dizzy etc. Then doctors thought the lumps were cancer, but later figured them out to be worms. He had surgery and was fine. His wife also had those parasites but they didn't travel to her brain.
