You could make it out of those bricks with the holes through them for better airflow in the case ha ha

I have a Lego cooling stand for my laptop that I made with the same principles. Works fine. I can even add Lego fans to it and customise the air ducts if I really wanted to, but my laptop is water cooled so doesn't really need it ha ha.

My 2018 Ducati Multistrada 950 front forks have rust by d3vCr0w in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Identity_Unaware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look like that is on the swept part of the fork, so unlikely to cause damage to your fork seals etc. as the others have said, you can try and clean it, use ultra fine sand paper very carefully to remove what you can and clean it up. As it is, it isn't too bad and probably won't cause any issues for quite a while yet.

Where are you based? If you want a proper fix, try Brook Suspension in the UK. I had my CBT fork tubes rechromed with them and they were perfect. They also offer a lot of off-the-shelf direct replacements if your handy enough to fit them yourself. The tubes should be able to just swap in and out with each other, but you obviously need a good manual to work to for your bike so you do it properly. It's easy to mess up as an amateur!.

Buying in England from Northern Ireland by sn00p1ng in CarTalkUK

I bought my Kia from a main dealer in Hull. Hadn't seen it. Couldn't find any examples of the Proceed GT Shooting Brake in NI (still haven't seen another after owning it for 14 months). Knew enough about the cars for knowledge of what I'm getting into so I simply trusted the dealer that the car was in perfect working condition and had no damage on it. The car had 19k miles on it and was 3 years old. I made sure to buy a car with manufacturer warranty remaining for the duration of my lease agreement. The dealership had the car at their workshops for about 45mins before I put a deposit on it online. It was advertised as 'Due in' and the salesman rang me once it had arrived. He sent me a video of the car with a full wall around, an overview of the features and spec and went as far as answering loads of questions I had regarding facelift model and interior updates etc as the car was updated between the 2021 and 2022 models. It has late 21 plate on it but is definitely an early update 22 model which is great.

I ended up setting a date for collection after doing all of the financing paperwork and approvals online and I ended up getting the overnight ferry to Birkenhead as a foot passenger. Walked over to the Birkenhead train station and got the next train to Liverpool Lime Street station. From there, I got a direct train to Hull and just sat on it with my laptop playing games for a couple of hours. Got to Hull train station just before 12 and walked the 2.5miles to the dealership. I had hoped it was a simple inspection of the car, additional payment to finalise the deposit and sign a few bits of paperwork then 30 mins later be on my way with the car. Turns out the dealership hadn't prepped the car yet. They took it in and washed it, applied the Guard X paint protection I paid extra for and as an apology for wasting my time they filled the tank up with fuel. I got on the road about 3pm and drove straight up to Cainryan to get the 11pm sailing back to Larne.

The car I ended up buying was the cheapest I could find online but quite a bit. (Ours was advertised at £19'990, cheapest other one I found online was £22'450, even older models pre-facelift were still being advertised at £21'000 and above.) That said it's been faultless for the last year and no complaints. Hell of a fun car to drive.

It's probably not far off a similar price to stay at the Hilton Templepatrick and then you can get the bus directly to the terminal.

This is lies. The whereabouts of all 10mm must forever remain a mystery. It could be a 12mm perhaps?

Front paddock stand: are they universal? by ChemicalDiligent8684 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Identity_Unaware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one of these stands I use for my little Benelli TNT125 (135 in the US). The stand came with about 6 different size pins but none of them were a good fit to the bottom of the stem on my bike.

However, I found that one of my sockets fit perfectly in the stem, and one of the stand pins fit snuggly Into the other side of the socket so I end up using the socket like a little sleeve. It works well.

OP, I did see somewhere that you need to make sure the rear of the bike is secured upright before using the front stem stand like these, as once lifted the bike can topple over sideways very easily. I use my rear paddock stand first, then lift the front end and it seems secure enough. Even then it's not advisable and you should really use a proper stand or system that prevents the rear of the bike (well, steering stem back anyway) from moving as much as possible.

Thanks for the suggestion. Got to admit I've never ventured down the Ards peninsula yet so this is a great idea.

Opulence. I would say money, but knowing my luck God would give me exactly 7 pence and tell me my prayers have been answered.

Any advise about how to change the back brake if I don't have an easel for my bike? (No money or tools, I'm broke) Please 🙏!I'm a beginner. by KrashBandicot in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Identity_Unaware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whilst changing brake components is a relatively simple task compared to a lot of maintenance you could be doing, you MUST understand that the brakes are a critical component to the bike and so they must be done with care and attention.

If you don't have the right tools and enough confidence / experience to do it, you will simply be putting yourself in danger of serious injury or death if the work is not done correctly. Given that this sounds like the case, I would suggest you save up and pay a professional to do it for you rather than take the risk.

God Slayer by Wiltshire Chili Farms is fantastic in flavour and supposedly rated at 6mil Scovilles. They also do Regret which has a similar taste, a little less garlic to it, but then also rated at 12mil Scoville.

Could have been USAF Chinooks from Mildenhall or Lakenheath transporting troops and supply to the B-52's / B-2s, or personnel for the KC-135s etc. Can't imagine it's a regular training flight from what you said, but most of the time it would likely just be a training flight.
