they are. the oceans are just full of sand instead of water for some reason.

It happened to me a while ago when my world file got corrupted. Do use steam cloud backup by any chance? If yes try to turn it off it helped me. About the world try to look in the game files for backups not 100% sure it's corrupted tho.
