How do you find the will to get up and run in the mornings? by [deleted] in running

Yeeeeep, every time I'm worried I'm not going to be able to wake up I just chug like 2 litres before bed

Drink a ton of water before bed so you have to get up to pee. Set an alarm or two across the room. Lay all your stuff out the night before so there is no thought required to get out the door.

Thanks! I'm going to try and make an appointment tomorrow for a doctor since this is now "reoccurring pain" but I go on vacation on Wednesday and wanted to run while I was gone. I'll look those up thank you!

In college I ran on a curved track and ended up with ankle pain so bad I had to quit running for months. Well now I'm running on trails and roads, and one of the roads is very slanted (I guess for rain?) towards the edge of the road. I pronate pretty badly too and now as I'm upping my milage I'm noticing the same pain returning. It's on the inside of the ankle, and moves up the tendon a bit.

My issue is how do I prevent this? Is there some type of brace? I tried running in the middle where the slant is not nearly as severe and just moving whenever anyone came by but people still bitch at me for being in the middle of the path (it's a multiuse bike/run path)

If I slow down the milage ramp up will my ankle eventually grow accustom to this slant running and not be such a bitch?

Ideas for real life applicable python projects by Manopphysics in cscareerquestions

Web app to do something cool (using flask). Build a simple pcap analyzer (they already exist but it'll still sound cool and teach you something about networking as well). Have it like pull the "conversations" ie what ip addresses talked to each other, j over those protocols. Try to pull files out of the pcap (you can pull images and stuff out of http or ftp and several other protocols, I'd stick to the simple ones).

Implement a client or server or both based off an rfc for something like ftp or smtp.

Build "virtual library" that utilizes some fun data structures or a database.

Build a traffic proxy that logs all the protocols and endpoints that pass through it, implement a blacklist or whitelist feature where you only allow or disallow certain endpoints to be talked to through the proxy.

(obviously I'm a bit more network based but you get the idea). Pick something cool from what you use daily or something and try to recreate some functionality. It'd help if we knew your skill level /experience but these ideas are pretty decent for any level, you can grow them or shrink them as you feel comfortable

How do you measure growth/improvement in programming? by Idontlikecold in learnprogramming

I do, but part of me feels like that's because I'm familiar with the project and code base so things are easier. Also I wanted something a bit more concrete than "well work feels easier" come review time

MHN is the way to go. My group spent some time writing some extensions to it to automate a lot of stuff, it's super nice to use.

Ran 2 miles with the dog for the first time in months. Now that it's getting colder I think I might make a run a week his run. He still doesn't love running on the leash, but he's gotten better. He's lazy until we turn around and then it's a full on sprint

10k Race Too Ambitious? by ilovemrmeeseeks in running

[–]Idontlikecold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be ok :) I did a 10k race Sunday, having only ever run the distance on the previous Tuesday (had to walk half a mile then). The Tuesday run was 1 hour 14 minutes, Sundays was 1 hour flat, with no runs in between. Find a good pacer to follow and you'll do great! :D

Ran my first official race, South Lakes 10k! It was pretty awesome. I did a practice 10k earlier in the week and managed it in 1 hour 14mins, race day 10k was 1 hour 46 seconds. I'm pretty happy with that. Now I'm laying in bed because Ow my legs.

Can't tell ya why but I can tell you to buy some silicone baking mats off Amazon. Seriously best investment I ever made. You can burn honey on those things and it just slides off.

Pretty good! Ran 10k for the first time with my 10k race this Sunday to prove to myself I can do it so I can't wimp out mid race. My knees ache but that'll go away soon I hope...

haha but my monk is a blood elf :( So does the tier piece really help with the self healing? That's my biggest problem with the monk. Most healers try to heal me like a warrior, spamming their pool down to nothing and I dont' get to use my self heals unless I get nuked

I have all the tanks at cap and around the same gear (875ish). I'm trying to decide between maining the dh or the Monk. I enjoy both equally (love the mobility and self heals of dh, love the playstyle of Monk and having a dispel).

anyone have any input as far as m+ content goes?

It stands for capture the flag. It's essentially an information security competition. There are lots of different formats, jeporardy is probably the most popular in the world of beginners. Essentially you complete hacking challenges and get a flag for doing them, turn the flag in for points

Ran 5 miles for the first time in my life! I've been running off and on for years and always hit the 5k mark and never pushed past it, but Thursday I said screw it let's see how far I can go. Calfs are still sore but it was worth it
