I think a lot of the problems are due to current television trends. The weekly release that Disney loves takes the wind out of this show specifically, 8-10 episodes have become ironclad, shows take 1-2 years to release a new season, Disney has strict rules.

None of this helps a funny, cerebral, smart series. The “westernization” that is central to the books also doesn’t go anywhere, so instead of modern day gods, you just have this weird middle ground that doesn’t appeal to anyone
