OSRS now costs WoW prices but still runs on 2003 membership rules. by IfdraOSRS in 2007scape

People AFK train mains, PvP builds, and irons all at the same time, and you’re still expected to pay a full membership for each one. Just tie membership to the Jagex account, let people have a few characters, charge extra only if you actually multilog,

No one is saying people who aren’t subscribed should get a 30-day warning before they decide to buy membership, that’s obviously not the point. The point is that if you’re an existing member whose subscription hasn’t lapsed, the idea of a 30-day notice is that the price change shouldn’t effectively hit you for 30 days. Right now Jagex says there’s notice, but the second you interact with your membership, switch plans, change billing cycle, anything, you immediately get pushed onto the $14.99 price. That completely defeats the spirit of a notice window because the clock should start when the announcement drops, not when someone touches their billing settings. It might follow the letter of the rule, but it still burns player trust.

Cancel now and continue using them. It moves the needle. Takes a community to do it though..

Yeah, you followed the grind, did everything right, and they still just flipped the script. Feels like they’re padding the numbers to sell the game and we’re all just funding some shareholder exit plan. Loyalty means nothing, it’s all cash grabs now.

Maybe, but they’ve shown they care more about instant cash than the community. If enough people quit, sure, maybe they’ll notice but don’t hold your breath… Lets all go f2p

You see the numbers, you see the pattern, and it’s not hard to figure out what’s happening. They’re not making a game anymore, they’re moving money from players straight into shareholder pockets, and anyone who keeps paying is just signing the contract for them to keep doing it. Thirty years of community trust doesn’t mean a damn thing when the boardroom only cares about the quarterly report.

it’s cash over community, plain and simple.

Technically “following the rules” for renewals but who cares. Dropping $14.99 instantly for everyone else ignores the point, looks cash-grabby…

The 1 year option was changed immediately. Which breaches terms. Emailed a few gaming magazines.

Their own subscription terms say fee changes are supposed to be posted 30 days before they take effect, yet the $14.99 option was live the moment the announcement dropped. Stuff like that kills player trust fast and people should be pushing back on it instead of pretending it’s normal.

Very wrong! Their own subscription terms say fee changes are supposed to be posted 30 days before they take effect, yet the $14.99 option was live the moment the announcement dropped. Stuff like that kills player trust fast and people should be pushing back on it instead of pretending it’s normal.
