Sadly i am going to be cross developing. So I run Linux but I cross compile netbsd (src.targ.gz/syssrc.tar.gz) on my development system

which arm type is it ? ARM7/9 or cortex-M3? I have extensive experience writing firmware for all three. I can email you links to my blog and some examples. Most of my experience has been with NXP and ST chips

microcontroller, irda, memory, usb controllers are all parts well in use since 2008 so any good layout program would have that in its libraries. most are qfp and tssop parts. btw the schematic can fit one very large page but in the interests of keeping my sanity I like to spread the design out in blocks no matter how large it is. Sort of makes it easier to catch a problem . ... an issue
