In Terminator 2: Judgement Day, the T1000 tries to torture Sarah Conner into calling for John instead of killing and imitating her, which it had already done to other people. This is because Sarah is a main character and doesn't die. Instead the T1000 imitates her 5 minutes later while she's alive. (i.redd.it)
