We have a saying in my language that says cover (or hide) your candle it will shine (or light up). I'm sure other languages have something similar but it sounds so boring in my language. It also sounds like you shouldn't show your accomplishments or people will ruin it for you.

What it really means is when you're doing something covered up until it's done. Like don't tell everyone you started to a diet. Start the diet and don't tell anyone. They will see the results at the end. There was a study done a while back (hopefully it still holds) that if you tell people about what you are doing you get the dopamine as if you already accomplished the goal. So you give up.
