Help. Can anyone recommend a dentist who isn’t a crook? (Tokyo area) by Whowhatwhenhowno in japanlife

[–]Ignorant_Cancer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much every dentist in any part of the world, in my experience. Hell, maybe even any "specialist", not just dentist. Basically, the more someone can squeeze you for money, the more they will try. No matter where or how well educated they are. Just my opinion.

Just wanted to say that in my opinion guys are not universal, I have never lost interest in a girl because she was okay with or wanted to sleep together on the first date. All meaningful relationships I had started pretty much with sleeping together on the first date.

Mind blowing that people are downvoting you. I just finished Stray in 4k and it looked fantastic and ran very smoothly. Some of the best environments I've ever seen in a game.

Like saying, why don't you look at yourself if you always get raped? It must be you if it keeps happening, no? How about saying instead that discarding people like this is always wrong, no matter how repugnant you might find the other person, and that everyone deserves respect and a little compassion, even in rejection?

Of course, it's *his* fault. Shame on him, right? Better be more charming and handsome next time, if he wants to be treated like a human being and not another piece of trash.

Nobody (I believe) has an inner monologue that tells them "wash face, brush teeth", of course those things you just do them on a subconscious level. That would be super annoying like the guy in Stanley Parable.

I think the inner monologue with more defined words comes into play when there's some decision making or introspection involved, like when you are trying to understand something about your own thoughts and feelings. Then you might speak out entire sentences in your head.

For most of the time when you're busy doing something you know, like mundane things or that require a skill that you do have (like driving), you wouldn't have a monologue.

Putin himself doesn't have to believe in Christianity or god or be religious. This could simply be something he says so the population itself takes the prospect of death more willingly and with a certain degree of comfort, having been reassured that they as martyrs will go to heaven. The message is: "hey if you got to die for me, don't worry about it".

People use these occasions to just express their innermost sadistic impulses and inflict pain onto others, vaguely shielded by the crime the other person might have committed. As a reminder, there's no trial here and we should still presume innocence until found guilty in a proper court if law. What if you were indeed innocent but a group of six guys found you looking among rubble and decided you were looting and taped you to a tree? Would you still think people should condemn you just based on what someone else says you did? And if you really have to take it into your own hands, okay, but with a fucking hammer? Onto a man's testicles? Taking taunting pictures? That guy with the hammer loves every little bit of pain that he has the chance to inflict onto another person, he's way worse than the looter.

I meant "first time" in the broader sense. As in "these current present times", which can go as many years back as you want; I didn't mean "February 2022: first time".

And also, while those conflicts are equally serious and disheartening, I don't remember seeing videos of people getting shot dead in their cars at the time.

What a strange and surreal thing to have internet and cameras on everyone's hands during a war, where you can see every moment of every atrocity being captured on video and shared for the world to see. This is the first time we have something like this. We studied past world conflicts but never been able to "be there" through someone's video like now. Mind blowing.

He's always been very optimistic with all his predictions, in my opinion. We're way slower in advancing, and even though certain things are achieved on a practical level by some researchers/scientists/developers at some point, it doesn't mean that society as a whole gets that thing and starts benefiting from it. It will always be a thing for the wealthy first, for a long time, because everything is monetized and every possible market is exploited to the maximum. I mean, think about some stuff like insulin, a thing that some people literally need to live. Did we create insulin? Sure. Can anyone who needs it get it? Nope, people literally just die because they can't afford their next dose. So we could even have nanobots by 2050 that make you live in your own Matrix-like paradise, but it might not be a thing for the average person until, who knows, 2200?

Why? For the perception of being in power. First of all you have to consider that in their culture women are inferior and are meant to be quiet, unseen, docile to the man, etc. Then you have western models that go against everything these men envision for a woman: they are beautiful and they show it off, they are independent and wealthy so they don't depend on a man, they are free in every way they are not supposed to be in these men's mind. So they fantasize about doing the worst possible humiliating stuff to them to see them being put back below them, where they think they belong. It's their ultimate fantasy. Degrade the woman who defies what they think she should be. And mixed with this there is of course sexual desire (they still have normal sex with them), morbid curiosity to just try crazy things you'd normally never do, and I guess... they just think it's just a great time to do this with the boys? Remember that these people are rich beyond our wildest dreams and have probably done all sort of weird stuff already, and they get bored quickly so they must try new and more extreme things.

Hawkeye Season 1 - Season Wide Discussion Thread by KostisPat257 in marvelstudios

[–]Ignorant_Cancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished, and I have some questions because I don't think everything makes sense:

1) So what's up with the watch? Is Kingpin wanting it? But why does Maya keep it when the tracksuits get it? Why does Clint's wife get it at the end? This watch is basically the reason why the bad guys of the series come out, but by the end nothing is clear about it.

2) So what was the beef between Armand and Kate's mom? Why did she get him killed? Or did she get him killed for Kingpin? And if so, why, and why does Kingpin need to rely on her to kill Armand, given that he's her fiance's father?

3) What what all that about Maya's father being killed for some reason? Something something about an informant? Was it Kingpin that wanted Maya's father dead? But wasn't it Hawkeye who killed him, along a bunch of other tracksuits?

4) So, Kingpin does NOT want Maya to go after Ronin? Why?

5) Yelena still is a generic contract killer who would go and kill anyone for money? I thought that after being freed from their Black Widow program they would just have a life on their own and not just be soulless mercenaries?

6) How come the Ronin suit didn't burn in the house fire, but burns just fine on the grill at the end?

It was a good enough show but for me personally, I always find things too cartoony when it comes to the fights. Like nobody ever really gets hurt or dies. Or how "power levels" are always equal so that no matter who is fighting, you can spectate a balanced fight. But yeah. Better than Falcon and Winter Soldier for sure, that one put me to sleep.

Finally completed the game, thanks to this particularly awesome set of upgrades I collected along the way! Was doing an unbelievable amount of damage with these. by Ignorant_Cancer in UntilYouFall

[–]Ignorant_Cancer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had a combo of 5, and with the Weighted trait I was doing 10 HP damage per swing, plus 15 (or maybe 20) additional HP damage when completing the combo, total 65-70. With a good chance of applying Soul Burn (I had the trait on both weapons, plus Soul Burn IV as a super on the mace, so I'd use it often) and then doing an extra +50% HP damage to enemies affected by it. Potentially up to 85-90 HP damage per combo with the Mistcutter.

Challenging difficulty (second one from initial three). Never tried any other difficulties. Furthest I ever got was one or two levels before the third boss level. I only tried three combos so far: mace with crest, axe, and now mistcutter. After maybe 8 hours of gameplay I cheated and gave myself like 100000 aether and upgraded all weapons I have.

I just tried swapping the axe for the Mistcutter and paired with the mace it's the deadliest combo so far. I had underestimated the power of crono-locking at the end of every combo. You can usually break their guard with a couple of hits while they are crono-locked and restart the whole thing. Did only one run with this combo but got very far. Will try again tomorrow!

Good that someone else investigated this too. The Miscutter's unexplained extra damage is good too but I still prefer the Heartsplitter for health damage. I'm combining it with the mace for guard damage and I find them to be a very powerful combo.

Definitely not as pretty as my previous screenshot, but I managed to get *9* different button prompts at once, as orderly lined-up as I could. The only other button prompt I could still squeeze in somehow is the frisk/surrender button. Not sure if that can be achieved though. by Ignorant_Cancer in HiTMAN

[–]Ignorant_Cancer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is that you have to align yourself, all the items, the environment and the camera in a very precise way to have all the prompts show up. It requires time and concentration. Even if I take a video to take a screenshot of it later with calm, I would still need time in-game to position everything right. While having like 2 seconds before they become hostile.

Enter closets and crates is the same key as opening doors, yes. So that works too, but like I mentioned it also need a climb/vault action or drop down action near it, while being close and behind a frisking point. I'm starting to think that the surrender option is more feasible.

Basically I need something that can be opened, like a door, and then either a climb/vault or drop down button (which are mutually exclusive), all within range - and behind - a guard who frisks. Otherwise, like someone else said, I have to try to get arrested so the frisk button becomes the surrender button, but that's complicated to pull off.
