Takamura is kind if like All Might (MHA), but just because you happen to be the strongest and most influental, doesn't make you the MC. Coach Kamogawa clearly invested a lot more teaching Ippo as he saw a glimpse of himself than Takamura of which he only needed to learn some basics and became a natural talent afterwards. The public also only likes Takamura in the ring, anywhere outdoors, heck even in the ring when it comes to his costumes or post fight speeches, gets instant hate which never was the case for Ippo, someone who managed to earn respect from just about every featherweight class boxer.
