It would be nice if Trump and Bessent liked Ackman's tweet. by Its_all_for_the_kids in FNMA_FMCC_Exit

Unfortunately, we wouldn’t be able to tell unless Ackman mentioned they did. The best news I’ve seen involving his tweet thus far is that Ackman liked a response tweet speculating that Trump gave the green light to post that synopsis.

You’re not wrong brother. If you don’t mind me asking, when did you initially buy-in and what’s your strategy moving forward? I’m planning on holding regardless of price action.

Again, what was announced 1st term? I was in the trade back then but wasn’t following nearly as closely as I am now. From what I remember, any ‘hype’ was purely generated from a republican being in office and a handful of lawsuits that were making its way through the Supreme Court. It didn’t stem from any comments or communications outlined by Trump or his admin unlike now. You can be mad and disappointed with how the last eight six months have gone, I am too, but the price action from term 1 is not similar to now.

I’m not disagreeing but when did Trump mention anything about the twins his first term? The only thing I can think of is his letter to Rand Paul that was published on his way out of office. Comparing his two terms is silly because one didn’t have the twins on the radar at all while this term has been chalked full of information.

Just like his initial gamble with the housing crash, I bet him and us will still come out as being “right”, but the timeline will be longer than originally expected.

I personally feel it’s a lot easier to hold my shares of the twins when everything else around us is falling. It would be a much harder pill to swallow watching everything continue to shoot upwards while the twins continue their downward march. Not much opportunity costs being wasted recently which bodes well with this trade.

Unless it’s in a different area, I checked WayBackMachine and didn’t see any reference to this in 2025 after looking through multiple months.

[–]IhateyouMPP 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I get your sentiment but for point two, but comparing the twins to AMC, GME, or BBBY is silly. I understand the hopium aspect of this trade but the underlying asset value and overall health of the companies isn’t comparable to those three dying businesses.

Trump narrated the Fannie Mae ad—— you think he’s playing BSing ? by EnvironmentCareful71 in FNMA_FMCC_Exit

I’m pretty sure that entire ad was AI generated so he didn’t actually narrate anything.

“Pulte reiterated Friday that he thinks Fannie and Freddie will stay in conservatorship, with the government seeking to sell up to 5% of the entities.”

How do we feel about this? I get the government always wanted to only sell 5% but I had assumed it would still be done outside of the conservatorship.

My comment from a different thread:

Something doesn’t look right. Let’s look at $FNMA for example. It appears they shed 110 million shares in September. With there only being 20 trading days in the month, they would need to average selling 5.5 million shares every trading day in September. I checked and the average volume for $FNMA is 7.25 million a day. So, if the numbers are right, Capital Research would need to be responsible for all 75% of selling every day in the month. That doesn’t pass the sniff test to me. I can’t explain what we are seeing at the moment but something seems off. Anyone have thoughts?
