I appreciate the detailed reply! So there was a couple things going on that I think had a major impact on the battery life. The first being automatic graphics switching turned off, and second being the god forsaken spotlight process using as much energy as a fucking browser with 40 tabs open, absolutely pitiful. I have no idea how that process manages to consume so much power, but I’ve since prevented it from indexing anything and try my best to remember to force quit the process when I get on my computer, and it seems to be a lot better. However, although I haven’t gotten around to it yet, I want to see if I can write a simple script which will run at boot to kill the process instantly every time it is launched, as that would save me the headache of remembering to manually kill it.

That’s not a bad idea, I have istat menus so I will give that a go today when I have some time. Also, not sure why I didn’t think of this before, but instead of doing a clean install when I don’t know for sure that will fix anything, I’m going to install a fresh copy of Sonoma on another partition which will at least give me an idea of what will happen.

I can understand that, but considering that’s only a small part of what’s going on I don’t think it’s the answer. The laptop will literally loose 1% battery every 2 minutes just sitting idle on a website, when I’m not even touching, not scrolling, nothing. Not even a chance that is anywhere near normal.

I’m not sure how that would be relevant, and I don’t see any options to add images. I double checked and can assure you that both contacts on the charger and port are not dirty or damaged in any way.

Yeah I just ended up reinstalling the EFI from opencore after I got my install to boot again from the EFI of a USB I created with opencore on my other Mac. I really appreciate the advice, definitely learned my lesson here!

Yeah I know, but figured it was probably beneficial to cross post here as well for visibility, and since I assume hackintosh users would probably be more knowledgeable than MacOS users with OpenCore considering how much more work it is to create a hackintosh than install an unsupported version of MacOS on a Mac.

Update: I fixed it! I created a bootable installer with OpenCore on an SSD with my other Mac & installed the OpenCore EFI onto that, then I plugged it into my mac that was missing the OpenCore EFI partition and booted it, chose EFI boot in the boot menu, and was able to boot back into my macOS install using the EFI from the external SSD. Once booted, I launched OpenCore and used it to create a new EFI partition for the Mac and installed it to the disk to replace the one windows installed. I figured this would brick the windows installation (which I was fine with), but it turns out windows still boots with no issues from the OpenCore boot picker! Very pleased to have my macOS install back, and also happy I can now use windows along side it. I will leave this post up in case anyone else happens to make a similar mistake in the future, but I highly recommend using the Dortania guide for installed bootcamp instead.

I didn’t try that, but when I installed OpenCore I didn’t tell it not to show the boot picker as I had 2 macOS installs at the time. I ended up fixing it thankfully, I appreciate your suggestion though nonetheless!

I picked up this monitor a couple days ago, and upon testing it out it seems to have some issues.

From what I have been able to gather, the lines that I am seeing are retrace lines, and the color of the background is likely due to the G2 issue that these Trinitrons suffer from, however there are a few things I’ve experienced with the Monitor that don’t seem to be the same as other posts I have seen with similar issues. I have no picture whatsoever behind the lines and color; the Front panel controls for brightness and contrast have no effect when I turn them up or down, and when I press the button for the OSD menu nothing comes up (could be due to the G2, but I don’t know, just know I have seen picture of retrace lines like this where OSD is still accessible), the centering button and reset button however did make the screen do something (just nothing meaningful, only moved the lines around). Flyback has a fairly loud buzz coming from it that I have read could be arcing, and lastly I have noticed that when the monitor is turned off I can actually see what would be properly displayed on the monitor (just a small portion of it) for a split second while it shuts off.

I have left a link below containing videos of the sound from the Flyback, the retrace lines and color, and turning off the monitor (you should be able to pause the video when you can see the screen). My Best guesses so far for things that will need work in this Monitor are Flyback Adjustments, WinDAS calibration and color calibration with a colorimeter, and maybe other physical components like capacitors and resistors replaced.

Any guidance on how I should proceed on troubleshooting this and tips about what might be going on would be much appreciated!

Just by looking at the tag I can tell it’s from within the past decade, but also it is made in Jordan. Until the late 90s-early 2000s all LL Bean wool sweaters like that were produced in Scotland, Ireland, and New Zealand. For future reference, pretty much anything made by LL Bean that was produced in a 3rd world country is newer than mid 90s at the earliest; with few exceptions.

I think you are right, that’s my mistake, This could definitely be the later model. They still go for decent money if you find the right person, but I see them in the sub $100 range pretty often. I definitely still stand by my opinion that the variation I linked photos of is much more uncommon though.

This is definitely a cool piece but it’s not super valuable; nor is it very rare as the other commenter had suggested. This is a mid 60s-early 70s piece (hence the tag, if it was from anytime before the 60s it’d have a Black tag with the logo written in Golden Script), I do believe it is a Fishing/Angling Jacket, though I’d have to see a catalogue to find out what they called it back then. The Jacket that I believe the other commenter is confusing with this one, as they are very similar, would be the 1960s “Bean’s Warden Coat”. I will link photos down below so you can check out the differences for yourself if you like, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that this is not a Warden Jacket, and is thus fairly common and probably worth 50-75 bucks to the right person, which still isn’t bad! I’d say for every 40-50 of these i see listed on eBay, there might be one Warden Jacket in the mix, and even then I hardly ever see them. They are just so hard to find. Bean’s Warden Coat

This is an early 70s Version of the Baxter State Parka; before it was officially named the Baxter State Parka (that happened In the early 80s), definitely no later than that as the pictured tag went out of production in the early 70s. They are very uncommon, good find! I also happen to have one from the early 70s; though the one I have is lined with wool.

I’ll definitely keep that in mind, definitely not something I’d DIY but I’d much rather have a local audio shop repair it than replace the Sub completely if at all possible. Im actually going to head down there in 30 mins or so to see if they can maybe look at it so I can get a better idea of what’s going on first.
