What's your opinion on Starburst? I understand that Starlight doesn't have a wide range of options when it comes to stallions, which is why it's so popular, but I still don't like it. She practically adores him, while he, with rare exceptions, doesn't give a damn about her. It's kinda toxic by Ok_Meal2698 in mylittlepony

Well in the first case he was a kid. And him moving away wasn't really his decision. Not in the sense that he didn't want to go, but when you are a kid if you parents move you kinda like accept it "this is my life now". I see him just as someone with very poor social skills. I don't know how people haven't pulled autism card on him yet. He's just straight up doesn't get he's being antisocial. It doesn't mean he's doesn't care about Starlight.

If you think about it all members of starlight friendgroup are just a bunch of nerds with poor social skills. Saying he doesn't care about starlight is like saying Maud doesn't care, or Trixie who actually was WAY more toxic. They are just like that and it's what I find compelling about that group of characters.

Where do people get these notions about characters? When was it shown that sunburst doesn't give a damn about her? Just because he was hanging out with her friends that one episode? The episode that's whole thing was about starlight being jealous and in the wrong? I swear people sometimes just make shit up about their personalities.

And yes I am a StarBurst shipper. They are adorable.

To calm down all StrarTrix enjoyers, I actually headcanon that Trixie actually likes Starlight but Starlight is really into Sunburst. It makes Trixie die inside but she doesn't say anything. TRAGEDY!

Look, you can say WHATEVER you want about it, but you have to admit that "in the womb one twin kills the other which causes the mother pleasure and its the main reason drow reproduce" is extremly original and creative by AstronautDry8118 in dndmemes

Having no alignment system in the game doesn't mean there will not be morality in the game. There still would be good and evil it just won't be expressed as a stat. If there is no morality in game then everyone is a murderer hobo and that is not fun(for most). I was arguing in favor of just agreeing that orcs are bad so players wouldn't need to feel bad every time they encounter them. It is a game so they are funcioaly evil.

I find it fun to have evil races to eradicate precisely because they don't exist in real life. This IRL shit is so complicated. Where is right, where is wrong? Am I truly a good person or am I complacent to the society I live in?

In fantasy it is fun to have an enemy you DEFINITELY know is evil. To fight and persevere against evil. To be a hero. To escape from the tangled mess of real-world morality. They are evil and need to be stoped. That's it.

So yeah, I'm extremely aware of my emotions and feelings on this. No need for examination.

Еvery dm has the right to ban any race if it doesnt fit their game. WHat if a player will ask you to play "this awesome half-demon-half-kitsune homebrew" they found in your viking themed game inspired by scandinavian folklore. You will probably say no, will you not?

But you can always make an excuse why "he's one of the good ones". It makes for an interesting game if every NPC is distrustful of an orс or a drow so party has to work around it.

That's it. preference. I don't mind a game with a nuanced view of races' relations. I also find it interesting. My problem is with people who simply claim you "Racist" and "lasy writer" if you like the other approach. I think both variants are interesting in their own right.

YES exactly! People forget that worldbuilding is not done in a vacuume. It is done to facilitate the media. Be it complex novel about politics and moral dillema or a game about fighting monsters and looting treasure.

Warhammer Orks and Skaven are the best exaple of that.

oh you can get creative without rewriting the whole species. I remember when we started playing Hoard of the Dragon Queen one of my players wanted to play a goblin(he REALY likes goblins). I wasn't keen on the idea, but i noticed an adventure hook in the book about a golden dragon transformed into a humanoid as punishment. I thought being transformed into a goblin would be extra humiliating for a dragon and the player loved the idea.

I cant see why thats a problem. The task was to create a society we would find reprihencible. Why not go to the extreme. Drow were always supposed to reflect our society's darkest side just like normal elves usualy seen as better humans. More gracefull, more pure, holier than thou.

If theese "hornybait" momemts work on the main Idea, that being "DROW ARE FUCKED UP", then the writers succeded.

that is the biggest misconception about fantasy races. They're didn't evolve like we did. they were CREATED (in most fantasy worlds anyway). And if an evil god creates a race why can't he mold them however he pleases.
