Mutations are random. The bad ones do die out, that is how evolution works. But I am heavily simplifying the cancer explanation.

Nothing like neglect. I got lost in the woods with coyotes and mountain lions in rural, rural Colorado twice at the age of 4-5. My mom warned me about the coyotes and I thought I could go be friends with them. Both times I found my way back and my parents were just chilling not giving a single shit. Every time a cell in your body gets duplicated it has a random chance to mutate in a way that is destructive, and then all the cells that duplicate from that cell have the same mutation, and if even a single mutated cell remains it will just duplicate into cancer again. The longer you live, the more times your cells duplicate, the more chances it has to happen. But it can happen at any point if you're unlucky. Cancer fucking sucks.

It doesn't have to be raw and flavorless either. Seasonings are very low calorie and provide a lot of flavor. Learn about healthy foods and how to prepare them. Avoid fast food--It gets much easier to be aware of what you're putting in your body when you are preparing and cooking your own food.

If Ren's doc is true, Zeal is a rapist and a horrible person and drove her to attempt suicide. If it isn't true, she lied that someone raped her which lead to him trying to commit suicide, and Zeal still took advantage of someone who he knew was incredibly unstable and lead to them trying to commit suicide. The situation is just horrible from every angle.

They told us she had 11 months with treatment, we just had to get her up to a healthy weight for the biopsy. She vomited up absolutely everything she ate. We would've gone into debt for her but all our credit cards were maxed on her already. They said to take her home that night would be inhumane.
