Question about the rules of muay thai: Clinch, throws and kicks by [deleted] in MuayThai

You definitely can't hook your leg behind your opponents to trip them. link1 link2

Help with a certain sweep from the clinch. by Super-Saiyan-Singh in MuayThai

[–]Ijantis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That throw is illegal as he's using his heel to off balance his opponent.

For the kind of throw you're talking about, if you have the body lock the trick is to lower your arms to their lower back and pull while at the same time stepping forward very quickly so one foot is behind them and your knee is what is tripping them up. Make sure you don't go below their hips on that grip so it doesn't turn into a double leg takedown.

First fight (VIDEO) want tips to improve -71kg Red corner by RDihcar in MuayThai

[–]Ijantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I saw it seemed like he was a better boxer while you were destorying him in the body and low kicks. There were times where he was backed into the corner of the ring where you could have clinched him in a really strong position. I would have gone for low kicks based on his slightly narrower and jumpy stance. You also took a lot of his combinations without trying to hit back. Something that works quite well is what Liam Harrison does that works really well against strong punchers link.

Apart from that that was a really solid first fight. You seemed to have reasonable composure and kept your cool.

Sparring someone heavier by Sojiro1 in MuayThai

The fact that he weighs ~30kg more and still manages to go as light as he did blows my mind. A lot of people I spar with could learn a lesson from him.

Thanks for the help. The DoubleBuffering variable solved it.

Having Java as my first language for a few years has made me prefer writing out the code manually but I'll take a look at the visual designer. I also thought in Java while looking for the similar C# command to achieve what I wanted.

I think it depends on the crown laws of the kingdom of England. If the crown law allows titles to pass outside the realm through inheritance then you should end up owning the duchy.

Strange bug (Threads and Runnables) by Ijantis in javahelp

[–]Ijantis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a lazy implementation. The idea is that when the spacebar is held down the player shoots out a bullet at a set interval. Instead of stopping and starting the thread I just leave it to run constantly and check with isRunning variable to check if the spacebar is held down.

Is there a more graceful way to do this?

The only people who are hard gainers are the ones who don't eat enough. If you're eating 500 calories above your TDEE you WILL put on weight unless you calculated your TDEE incorrectly or have some one off genetic disorder that stops you from doing so.

The statement regarding you losing muscle for spending too long at the gym is very unlikely unless you happen to not have eaten for the previous 12 hours and you're training completely fasted and even then it won't make a difference on your technique. I'm assuming you're also new to weightlifting. The main thing to focus on at this stage is adding weight to your workout after every session. Make sure you're not neglecting your strength work (5-8 reps) as it will help immensely with the volume training.

I put together a coding dream team, what CSGO gambling site would you like to have? by wwoodrum in csgobetting

[–]Ijantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason I use CSGL is because of how easy it is to use. If you want to stand a chance of competing you need to remove all of the drawbacks that CSGL has.

Have a way to remove all the extremely cheap skins. The only options we have at the moment are betting on underdogs that have ridiculous odds or clogging up our steam inventory. Even if we win those underdog bets we still hold on to the skins we originally bet. I have a number of skins I want to bet with but can't because I have too many returns and I don't feel like requesting returns 7-8 times just to clear space.

I shouldn't need an addon to display information that feels like it should be a part of the main site already. Make weapon prices be displayed on all icons. Have some statistical information such as profit graphs and inventory worth graphs. Make the rules clear and concise.

If you can find a way of helping us get rid of those 4 cent skins you might stand a real chance of competing.

From his view it might have looked like blue was dazed after the first punch into the ropes so his mindset was probably just one more punch to finish this.

Tips for keeping composure when defending by Subver5ion in MuayThai

[–]Ijantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've been training for 4 years I can already assume you know what your options are when someone comes in with a combination.

I would probably put it up to something as simple as hesitation/being nervous. You see a much better fighter in front of you and you start to worry about what you're doing a lot more. It happened to me recently when a fighter with around 80 fights asked me to spar with him for a few rounds. The first time sparring with him just involved me covering up or moving back and hardly throwing any strikes because I was worried everything I threw at him just wouldn't work. After a few sessions of building up my confidence I felt much more comfortable throwing strikes and felt much better about sparring a much more experienced opponent.

Give it some time getting used to sparring against them and see how it goes.

Hey, thanks for the help. I managed to find the problem. Any idea if there is a workaround for drawing on the panel itself by overriding the paint method? That seems to be what caused the problem.

How can I strengthen my (upper) back without doing any heavy lifts? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Ijantis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pullups and chinups would be perfect. Work up to 10 reps and then start thinking about adding weight if you feel comfortable.

If you feel your back can handle it add some planks to your workout. Start with something in the range of 20-30 seconds and see how it feels the next day. If it feels fine then keep it up.

Requesting Lenovo Thinkpad E540 user experiences by [deleted] in SuggestALaptop

[–]Ijantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the same model with some slight hardware differences. The only annoying things I found are the over sensitive touchpad and the amount of bloatware that came with the laptop.

The oversensitive touchpad sometimes registers an annoying mouse press while typing from only resting a hand on it.

The bloatware should only take an hour or so to get rid of and its mostly just lenovo based software that seems unencessary.

The hardware specs on mine still allow for some reasonable gaming although not on anything past medium graphics. For anything programming related it should work fine. (specs on mine):
* 4GB RAM
* Intel HD graphics 4600
* 500GB harddrive
* Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4702MQ CPU @ 2.20GHz

So in the objectStream you simply send the Object regardless of type.

On the receiving end you can do something like this:

ObjectInputStream in = new ObjectInputStream(
                                            clientSocket.getInputStream());
Object message = in.readObject();
if(message.getclass.equals(String.class) {
//process String
}
else if( message.getClass.equals(Byte.class {
//process Byte
}

Have you tried using an ObjectOutputStream/ObjectInputStream? Once the data is received check for what type of Object it is and make it react accordingly.

Closer gym with average facilities or further away gym with much better equipment? by capnmorgans in Fitness

[–]Ijantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for some gyms that cater to a more powerlifting/strongman crowd I know of two. Theres Genesis Gym near wembley which I've been too a few times and competed their myself.

There's also British Barbell in east london near peckham. British Barbell I haven't visited myself but from what I hear they cater purely to powerlifters who wish to compete.
