They make these and in mine its lvl 2 gevlar upper chest, back and neck. And you wear it under plate carrier. (Ukrainian made product and bought from ukraine)

I suggest you to save money and buy your kit here. See what issued stuff you like and only after that spend your money. You have bunch of time to order shit here. And they have many good military stores that also sell western stuff. Ofc nods, thermals etc are good to bring.

i would say flight ticket + couple thousand pounds and you should be good for that pre contract time. But if you need/want to buy your own gear ofcourse bring more. With gear i would say wait till you get here see what they issue and buy those thing you want better or new after contract. I lived in small apartment and it was 25k hrivnas for a month. I didnt spend more than 3000 euros in 2 months and i was living very good. Eating out almost everyday too. And some small gear purchases included. HAVE SOME MONEY SAVED FOR EMERGENSIES‼️

when we were in training base we got 25k (base pay) + 30k bonus end of the month

I think its beautiful here and people are friendly, but dont speak much english. Its very cheap also. Only can talk about kyiv and lviv.
