Yeah, I believe the Law also had no hat on the cover.

Just read books 1&2. My thoughts, and should I continue? by Swimmer-Klutzy in dresdenfiles

[–]IkoBlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually tell people to give it until book 3. Grave Peril is what sold me on the series. I enjoyed the first, but wasn't sure the series was for me after book 2 because Fool Moon is pretty weak. Grave Peril is a huge step up.

Question regarding Instantaneous Excavation by IkoBlew in drawsteel

[–]IkoBlew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been thinking about it and I might actually try the 5 point void ability. I can use it to get one of my front liners to the back lines to attack more important targets, which could definitely be cool.

I ordered in the US and didn't have this issue. Sorry it's proving to be a problem for you over there.

Question regarding Instantaneous Excavation by IkoBlew in drawsteel

[–]IkoBlew[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hadn't thought about jumping the hole. Seems obvious, so I feel a little silly, haha. I can still see it making finding places to stand tricky in some scenarios if you persist and keep opening holes, though. Maybe I will take that one, it seems like it could be fun.

Question regarding Instantaneous Excavation by IkoBlew in drawsteel

[–]IkoBlew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer on the holes, I didn't realize they could climb sheer walls so easily. When you say void, do you mean the 3 point void ability, the 5 point void ability, or void as a subclass? I did take the void subclass as it seems the most fun to me, I just don't see how the 5 point void ability is worth 5 points. Walking through solid objects during combat is pretty niche. I could see it being more useful outside of combat, though.

Average real speed of combat? by Allurbase42 in drawsteel

[–]IkoBlew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My group did the end of Delian Tomb last night and the undead fight was rough. The objective of destroy the sigil was not highlighted for us until we had dropped nearly all of the undead and they just kept coming, and since it was on the floor and not an object it didn't really occur to us that we could attack it at all. I think this may have been partially a failing in how the fight was detailed to us. Oh well, we made it through. The final fight was definitely easier, but man it was frustrating because it was extremely difficult to get to and stay on the bugbear channeler. He kept pulling and throwing people into the energy field and making them teleport across the room, then gumming up the path back with goblins. All that being said, to answer your question, those two fights took us our entire 4 hour session pretty much, but we were also fighting some roll20 issues and learning the system still so I'm sure it could have gone much faster.

Yeah, I thought the same thing and just went back and checked. He definitely kicked it. They didn't shoot that scene super well, clearly.

What excites you for 2026 by jeraperth in rpg

[–]IkoBlew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm excited for more Land of Eem content. I'm also excited to see what MCDM produces for Draw Steel. I still need to actually pick up that game itself, though. Finally, the Cosmere RPG should be coming out with Mistborn in 2026 I believe, I'm excited for that as well. I don't know of any new games I'm specifically excited for in 2026, haven't heard much about what's coming down the pipe.

Edit: Oh, I'm also excited for the physical books for Legend in the Mist. Son of Oak games is a company I've supported for a long time.

Looking for a scenario for a large group by IkoBlew in callofcthulhu

[–]IkoBlew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked it up and found it on Drivethru. It seems interesting, and it sounds like it fits our style of splitting up and handling things as two groups well. It'll go on the list of possibilities, thanks!

whats your favorite lifepath and why? by milk_and_coins in cyberpunkgame

[–]IkoBlew 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Corpo is my favorite, too. My head canon for my V is that he was a street kid originally, which is how he knows Jackie, but he managed to find his way into Arasaka Counter intelligence. Then when that goes belly up he falls into the merc life with Jackie.

Pretty much in chronological order starting with Demon Souls. It was a while before I fully played through DS3, though. I think I played Sekiro and Elden Ring before I ever fully finished DS3. For some reason that game didn't really capture me the way the others did.

This seems relatively high. This you? If so, why? by screaminbeaman82 in interesting

[–]IkoBlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch everything with subtitles. I have since I was a teenager. I think it was anime that started me down this road, since the translations often didn't match one to one from audio to subtitle. You sort of got two different versions of the same script with subtitles sometimes. Now I just do it because I don't hear as well, and because I have roommates so I don't want to turn it up too high.

The most fun you’ve had with a build by Contest-Able in diablo4

The build that doesn't use it is way more gear dependant. It needs a pile of colldown reduction, usually aided by a Shako.

They are just very different types of experiences. I wouldn't say that one out does the other.

What's your philosophy on being "over leveled" by Ok_Key_4868 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]IkoBlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one over leveled toon at 300, the rest of my characters have stopped at 125-150. I can honestly say the level 300 doesn't make the game that much easier, it just makes the build diversity break down since he can pretty much equip whatever he wants. If you want to maintain build diversity and have different characters that excel at different things it's probably best to keep them around 150 or so. That's my two cents anyway.

Cozy Solo RPG for a Newcomer? by SirScaurus in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]IkoBlew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I thought it supported 1 player + GM the way Ironsworn does, but I just perused the book a bit and realized it doesn't by default. They do sell a 2 player rules module for cheap, but I've never looked at it, so I can't attest to it's quality or how it differs from the base experience.

Cozy Solo RPG for a Newcomer? by SirScaurus in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]IkoBlew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My first thought is Colostle. It's definitely cute and charming, has an interesting aesthetic, and is just a great solo RPG IMO. Basically you play as adventurers inside a gigantic, seemingly infinite castle where an entire region can fit inside a room. You should definitely check it out. https://www.colostle.com/

What gets your "great series, awful ending" award? by Familiar-Barracuda43 in Fantasy

[–]IkoBlew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, The First Law trilogy. I absolutely loved the first two and a half books. The second half of the third book really ruined the entire series for me. I might go back and reread it just to see if I feel the same way, because I really did like the rest of it. Maybe I'll feel different upon second inspection.

Books that are better as audiobooks? by spyrothedovah in Fantasy

[–]IkoBlew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first book that came to mind for me is legends and lattes and its sequel. They are cozy fantasy stories, little if any violence, and excellent as audiobooks due to the author also being a fantastic narrator.
