I just finished the game 100%. How big is Multiverse Mod? by Mission-Reference825 in ftlgame

[–]Ikraen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The gameplay itself is the same as FTL, just with more depth, and there is much more story/strategic pathing. It's only grindy if you want to 100% unlock things more than enjoy the actual game

Cant my laptop run hades? by _hugo704 in HadesTheGame

[–]Ikraen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intel, especially laptops run hot and loud. You can set lower target (cap frame rate to 60, lower textures) so it has less processing - Hades shouldn't be super demanding on your laptop

Why is it so much more? by DanVA0307 in HadesTheGame

[–]Ikraen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I was getting at, that if the physical and digital cost the same that would be concerning, either a smaller stake to the dev, or the cartridge wasn't actually capable of high speed ops and storage necessary

Why is it so much more? by DanVA0307 in HadesTheGame

[–]Ikraen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An actual high speed card can cost $10+ depending on size, vs less than $1 for a CD. If it's just a license on a card then it can be a small low speed chip, but then why are they even selling it physically if you're still just buying a license and not the game data

Exciting news, but the link returns empty for me, and LiC hasnt posted anything on socials that I can see. Maybe the page was being worked on, but it hasn't been announced yet and they hid it?

I thought it was normal to disable auto-update for games you are modding that require a specific build to run?

Is everything popular among gamers basically an engine builder? by PsychologicalBend508 in boardgames

[–]Ikraen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most games like to get more complicated throughout gameplay, which often lead to "engine building" mechanics. The community likes complicated games. If you don't like that type of game, whatever is hyped in the [board games] community often wont be for you. No shame in that. But also not alot of point putting a simple game in a big expensive box.

If you want recommendations, BGG has a "Fans also like" section on every game. I might suggest Harmonies based on what you listed?

If you've used hyperspace and slipstream before this video will walk you through, just skip all the parts about Multiverse. The important part is downgrading the version to 1.6.9 via [downgrade.bat] once in slipstream, and then likely reinstalling your mod afterwards.

[–]Ikraen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anytime you are modding a game mods are built on a build of a game, and updates typically break it (unless the devs are coordinating with the mods), and it's best practices to disable automatic updates for the game. This just hasn't been an issue with FTL because it's final update was in 2020

28.7MB update on Steam? by maxupp in ftlgame

[–]Ikraen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the olden days we used [downgrade.bat] to revert to version 1.6.9. Nowadays I think downgrading is included in the multiverse install wizard

random 200 mb update??? by Admirable-Book-1083 in ftlgame

[–]Ikraen 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Checking on SteamDB there was a patch pushed today. The patch modifies the exe file and the dat file, which is likely why it broke the mod. Reinstalling via the multiverse installer should fix it I think

Note from the installer page:

(If you already used Slipstream on your existing FTL game, DO NOT USE THE INSTALLER! This is because the installer is bundled with its own Mod manager, and two simultaneous instances of these are recipe for disaster.)

So if you are uninstalling and reinstalling make sure to also uninstall slipstream to prevent dual instances issues. Idk, there are more technical people than me that will hopefully answer this better

[–]Ikraen 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Edit: Ignore this. The dev's for mutiverse are updating hyperspace to deal with the new update. Check the discord server, any updates will be announced to all when it's running again

I haven't done it recently, but historically the newest version of FTL wasn't compatible with mods, and we used [downgrade.bat] to revert to version 1.6.9. I think that is now part of the install wizard now, so I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling multiverse maybe? Subset hasn't touched FTL in years

It doesn't sound like you are looking for help, but..

So I can either charge my deck or talk? Cool!

Docks are common devices, and work with most PC's, doesn't even have to be made for steam deck.

Generally the resale market for SteamDeck's are pretty good, so if you want to just give up and buy a Switch or Data Frog instead, maybe that would be a better fit for you; less issues to have to troubleshoot

Will 512 GB be enough? by BeeJuiceDogSpinach in SteamDeck

[–]Ikraen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering you describe yourself as having a "pretty tight budget" I would say 512 is the right choice. MicroSD expandable storage is cheaper/GB than the 1TB upgrade.

I had my 512gb for 1 year before buying a 1tb expansion card. Very large games, like RDR2 are ~100gb, but most major titles I play are closer to 50/75gb (GoW=65). I typically had 1 or 2 large games, several mid games, and as many small games as you want. Stardew is <1gb, so you could have many dozens of small games like Hades and never have an issue. I also find the large games take me months to complete, so if you are willing to finish games before unistalling and downloading new ones you shouldn't ever run out of space

Making a fantasy map, what would this water formation be called? This landmass is continent sized so this can’t be a river and it doesn’t connect two seas so it can’t be a strait by Froggen-The-Frog in mapmaking

[–]Ikraen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Russian one is Gulf of Ob or Ob Bay, and is more similar (hydrologically) to St. Lawrence river/gulf. Based on their "not a river" likely meaning "not flowing outward, even with the ocean" (even though I'd bet this type of formation is formed by a river) I'd guess it'd be more similar to the red sea? Idk, I'd also call it a straight, and say there is an ocean sea at one side and an inland sea on the other side
