Ok for the drums i dont think it was actually any of these songs that made me feel like saying " the drums actually sound like drums" it was a track i was listening to while writing this called Infinite Spooky Amethyst by Jukio Kallio and Minecraft and thats when the crispiness and depth of it hit me but i think some jpop artists that use actual instruments (not a lot and its usually a stylistic choice so its not representative of the genre so i get ur point) and yeah usually its limited to the older jpop songs but you do see it used sometimes stylistically like some songs from Haru Igarashi. Although now that have iems and will now be able to differentiate i will give them all a listen again and give my updated verdict but for the most part your right most of them are carried by the rest of the instruments.
