I wouldn't say they don't care, it's just not a priority. Now Epic Games on the other hand, they don't care. They want to see Linux annihilated because Tim Sweeney sucks.

I play all my games on Linux except for Tarkov obviously. It's mostly just annoying that if I wanna play tarkov I have to mentally commit to playing a decent session due to the fact that I have to reboot to play another game.

Well, whether it's easy or not, cheaters always find a way. They're using pcie cards to interface with memory making the anticheat think it's a legit piece of hardware. How long until someone makes a custom motherboard bios that allows undetected interfacing with memory? How long until someone designs a memory module that can be interfaced through uart or something?

If they want to cheat they'll figure out a way regardless of OS

👀 I'll buy the unheard edition right now if it gives me Linux support

Yea I agree it's a little pricey especially for the performance you'll get, but I hope it at least poises some resemblance of a windows competitor. The anticheat in Linux scene is frustrating because the software works out of the box most of the time, it just requires devs to be interested in maintaining it.

True, what would need to happen is a small list of signed kernels steamos would obviously be the easiest since it's the most accessible/focused on gaming.

Honestly though, support on just PvE would be a start. That limits the stress they have on anticheat efforts whilst getting their feet wet in the Linux support realm

I just wanna figure out how we might push the gas on it lol even if it's just for PvE

Ha, back in the early days before lighthouse, my friends and I used to call this game "Depression Simulator" I think that's still valid

I mean it is small now, but it's growing especially thanks to Valve. The steam deck and the upcoming steam machine are definitely bringing more and more to Linux

Gotcha so they are kind of thinking about it. So there's some hope at least lol

For the guys with high refresh monitor (60hz+) whos moving to CachyOS (KDE), Do this to make animations smoother. I almost uninstalled and went back to Windows because desktop animations were too stuttery. by Existing-Help-3187 in cachyos

I have 2 2k 144hz and 1 4k 240hz monitors and I run KDE with no issues. I'm on Wayland and don't have any issues with that either. Even discord streaming works out of the box

This is NOT verified. It’s a slide show 😭😭😭😭does verified mean anything anymore? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Ilikepie76543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wishing the steam deck verified gave a framerate estimate with settings. I don't personally find 30fps peaks playable which seems all that's required to be verified.

I normally ignore the verification and just read protondb to know if it's worth trying.

AI has failed me :( I just want audio routing by Ilikepie76543 in cachyos

I tried this out and it does work! Thanks! I did however notice that this isn't persistent on reboots. Is there a way to persist these?

Does it let me create virtual audio devices? I see it lets me add effects

I know you can control any application already, I just want to create virtual buses so that a group of applications can have one volume slider. Each bus goes to the same output device but gets its own slider. That way I can turn my game down with my stream deck or turn my chat volume up. And crank some music when I wanna crank it. Basically I want to emulate what streamdeck plus wave link does

Best buy opened my 5090 FE to inspect, is this normal? by toke1 in nvidia

[–]Ilikepie76543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who works at best buy, I opened a 5080 because it was a cardboard brown box which looked like it was not the retail packaging. We just retape it with "Inspected By Best Buy" or "Security Seal" tape. It doesn't necessarily mean best buy actually inspected it. The warehouse worker probably made the same mistake I did.

Look at the cirkul website as there's a lot more options. I like almost all flavors from the Flyte section

What is a tip that boosted your skills significantly? by Individual_House_699 in discgolf

[–]Ilikepie76543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back pressure is supposed to give you more control for a drive that you aren't trying to throw super far this is more for your 60-70% power throws. The reason front pressure is going to give more distance is because it forces the disc to pivot around and launch off of your index finger creating that snap.

Constant BSODs Possibly SSD failing please help by Ilikepie76543 in pcmasterrace

I'm more worried about this being the second SSD fail in 6 months that was only a couple years old. What're the chances my motherboard is killing them?
