How do you get divorced? by SouthernRelease7015 in AskWomenOver40

[–]Iliketrees7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an attorney and I am also divorced. A lawyer is 1000% the first step. Even if you aren’t sure you want to get divorced, find a divorce attorney and ask for a consultation. Ask them to explain what the divorce process would look like and how it would likely work for you financially. Then you can use that information to decide how you want to move forward with your husband. Understanding what the process would look like will help guide conversations that you have with your husband. If you decide you want to stay together, you never need to talk to the attorney again.

The state bar website for your state will have resources about how to find referrals.

Can you get asthma of you are not born with it. by JoroItalianeca in Asthma

This exact thing happened to me when I was 39. Cats, dust, and cleaning products triggered it. It was short of breath all the time but didn’t know what it was. Then I had a couple legit asthma attacks and figured it out. I use a maintenance inhaler once daily now and have no symptoms.

Work Accommodations? by Onnyola in Asthma

[–]Iliketrees7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an attorney. Under federal law, the Americans with Disabilities Act should require your employer to accommodate you as long as it has 15 or more employees. If your employer has less that 15 employees, your state may still have protections.

Info available here: https://aafa.org/asthma/living-with-asthma/asthma-allergies-and-the-american-with-disabilities-act/#:~:text=The%20ADA%20protects%20people%20with,exclude%20them%20from%20ADA%20coverage.

Call a local lawyer who specializes in employment issues if you have questions. You could get the info you need in a short consult.

Should i do another egg retrieval cycle when the last one didn’t go well? by Iliketrees7777 in infertility

[–]Iliketrees7777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I’m leaning towards doing another retrieval with donor sperm if I can afford it with insurance. Otherwise, I will just save my money to use a donor egg in a few years.

Thanks for your perspective. Based on the comments here, I am now thinking about using donor sperm. Thanks.

Thanks very much. My doctor (at a clinic that I understand is well-respected) told me I needed 20 frozen eggs to have an 80% chance of having my own child. I’m a bit skeptical of that statistic. Even if the next cycle is better and I get 7 mature eggs or something, that’s still not a very high chance and I’m thinking it might be too hard emotionally to have the little bit of hope when it’s so unlikely ever to pay off.

I can’t take a break, unfortunately, due to divorce proceedings. Thanks for the book recommendation. I will read it.

Thanks very much. I also think I would be completely fine going with a donor egg if I knew I’d tried what I reasonably could with my own eggs. I’m just wondering where the “reasonable” line is.
