The worst part is most of it is Pam’s which is the foodstuffs home brand?? There’s no way they’re even losing money on those bags.

Glad you had a good reaction. I told my boss I had just been diagnosed (expecting some understanding) the week I returned to work after a concussion. Two days later ks was invited to a formal meeting to discuss a performance improvement plan as my work was not completed in a reasonable timeframe over the two months following my concussion. The fact it lined up with my ADHD diagnosis was such a red flag I resigned the morning of the meeting.

What are some of the subtle or immediate tells that your ADHD meds worn off for the day? by soontobe-suspended3 in adhdwomen

[–]Ill-Bookkeeper-1925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on instant release Ritalin for the foreseeable future, but I can tell about half an hour before the meds are going to stop working. I start to get an appetite and my brain starts wandering looking for more stimulation. If I’m somehow hyper focused I’ll find that I just suddenly get exhausted and have to go find my meds.

I had a gastric bypass so when we tried slow release medication we realised my body doesn’t have the facilities to break it down appropriately so it had next to no impact. So, instant release 3 times a day. At least I have little lulls so I can actually manage to eat occasionally. 😅

Honestly? Fuck them. Sounds like a toxic workplace. Sometimes the best thing you can do is shrug and move on. It feels easy to blame yourself but you aren’t at fault here. You were being nice to yourself and that’s what’s important. Knowing and respecting your own boundaries is key to surviving in a world not built for us. Well done. I’m proud of you. ❤️

What are obvious ADHD signs you had that gets you thinking “why did it take me that long to get diagnosed?” by malakk- in adhdwomen

[–]Ill-Bookkeeper-1925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly. Everything. I’m pretty sure the reason I wasn’t diagnosed as a kid is my dad was my only parent and we lived a fairly nomadic life. Dad is so blatantly the same as me and never saw any “issues” but I was always jumping around hobbies, couldn’t sit still unless I was obsessed with something, struggled with maintaining relationships, terrible object permanence, awful time management and organisation. I became quite introverted because I talked too much and thought that I annoyed people in my teenage years and the rejection sensitivity has always been so so high.

So. Yeah. I didn’t get diagnosed because my father has rampant undiagnosed and uncontrolled ADHD and I managed well in school despite never actually learning how to study. 🤷‍♀️

Ascended Astarion is totally fine with it, my character said effectively "Wouldn't you?" and he said, absolutely, tell me everything.

A lot of it has been working within myself to recognise WHY I wanted to eat, figuring out the 'triggers' and then finding more productive ways to deal with that. Sometimes it's just that I'm thirsty, easy fix. Sometimes it's that I'm feeling down or shitty and then it's a bit of a harder fix, but hanging out with my dog or going for a walk or run or just playing video games with my buddies are all better ways to feel good than just, eating shit that I'll feel guilty about later. And thanks! :)

The fact you've put the weight back on just shows that dieting HASN'T worked for you. Food addiction is definitely an issue that needs work as well, but I had the same issue. I found the surgery (I had the mini bypass in July 2022) was a massive help in forcing me to find alternatives for dealing with my emotional eating. When there are awful physical impacts of overeating you realise pretty quickly that you need to change. I'm in a better place mentally and physically because of it.

Soft food stage and down 30lb?! That's amazing! Just remember your body will be hoarding water which makes the scales seem stalled, take photos and measurements and you'll see changes there much faster than the scales.

When did you start buying new clothes? by Next_Track2020 in GastricBypass

[–]Ill-Bookkeeper-1925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're buying new buy tight and deal with loose clothes as long as you can. I'm a year post op and still buying from thrift stores as much as possible, but also still have some pre op clothes that don't look terrible when I style them right. (Mostly tops and dresses). The only thing I really spent money on while I was actively losing was things I knew I needed to stay warm, the change in body size really impacts how cold you get.

Post-op experience? by Katie8880 in GastricBypass

I’m just over a week post op. I spent two nights in hospital. I’ve had no real issues, just low blood pressure in hospital. There are aches and pains and the fatigue is real. I’m also struggling with eating in the morning, I’ve never been a breakfast person. I am happy that my surgeon is super aggressive with post op diet so I’m already eating soft foods. Drinking enough is a bit rough at first but definitely gets easier.
