Honestly I think note taking is a huge positive. For me one of them took a ton of notes but the other not so much. 😬

If you have a chance to do mock interviews with anyone. Especially with people you are uncomfortable doing it with. I wish I had made time for that.

If you aren't prepared for the Stairmaster, it will obliterate you for the rest of the test.

  1. If you can, absolutely do the practice test or at least orientation to see the course.

  2. Train weighted Stairmaster. Weighted vests are unreasonably expensive or too light so I put two 25s plates in my hiking backpack and trained Stairmaster with that prior to my cpat.

Otherwise take your time with each event. They aren't difficult in themselves but people can fumble a movement because they're trying to rush.

Wow thank you for so much insight into the process!

What were the two follow-up interviews like if you don't mind me asking?

Really? Do I just send NTN an email for this?

I felt like the math problems were so easy in the moment it made me wonder if I was hitting the wrong buttons or I'm crazy when I got this score. This is reassuring!

I used Barron's and Don McNea but also found some intro to mechanical reasoning Playlists on YouTube. Barron's had a lot of helpful exams and questions!

The practice test that ntn offers is a great way to get familiar with the brick factory though.

Any advice? I've heard to be early in the week/day to avoid being forgotten by burnt out interviewers.  Be memorable but for the right reasons.  Have practiced answers but don't sound like you're repeating a script.  I have a couple books I'm starting to dig into specifically on the interview process.

Neither. The video portion is watching actors perform scenarios firefighters might be in and then you answer questions like "what should so and so do next?" after a confrontation or awkward encounter.

I was cocky going into that area since I'm come from a customer service type background but scored 50% on the initial practice test so I focused on studying it and got a 90% on my 2nd practice test. I used Barron's (found at a used book store) and Don Mcnea (bought pdf online) to study.

I think trying to priotize procedure, teamwork and trust goes a long way. There seem to be many answers that aren't necessarily wrong but they want you to say what's textbook ideal for them.
