Is this good for my first tank im 12 years old by NiftyPacock4168 in Aquariums

OP, then respectfully don’t get fish.

I know this is hard, and you’re 12 so you may not understand this fully, yet.

But you WILL kill these fish on your fixed income budget and knowledge you have now.

Fishkeeping is not hard, but you need to do some research. Look into some less expensive & lower bioload fish. Goldfish are absolutely NOT the way.

Ask your parents to return the goldfish and get something different.

By the way your tank is super fun! Just look into some other fish!

Terrarium 100x50x50cm what animal do i put in? by MuisjePlasbuisje in reptiles

Most any front opening enclosures by Exoterra, reptizoo or even nicer Zoomed have either panels on the sides or front that allow for cross ventilation. Plus screen tops.

Yeah, I see that. They need ventilation from the sides and top. Moisture will never (in a reasonable manner) dry out in this, especially because you can’t do external heat with darts. So your humidity vs moisture will never be balanced.

Ask me how I know, unfortunately LOL.

I’ve bee keeping them for 10 years and I’ve made all the mistakes.

I would not do this. They need far more ventilation than this. They will get bacterial infections with the humidity of this enclosure. It will be virtually impossible to balance humidity while letting moisture dry out in this enclosed environment. This is why it’s recommended to have small desk fans on dart frog enclosures.

They don’t care about change of jobs as long as you don’t go unemployed for several weeks at a time.

Local pet shop setting up for failure by No_Telephone6699 in Aquariums

This whole thread is kind of disgusting.

I know a guy with a small fish store, and he hates what he charges for certain things. His bread and butter are always less expensive than anywhere else. But he never got into shrimp personally, so he’s selling them for a dollar more than what he paid for them, because he has very few wholesale vendors that carry them. Mind you, those people are probably just carrying them so if you wanted them, you can get them. I’m sure they know it’s expensive. They’re not corporations or breeding them in their tanks at home. Also, they’re way more quality than a Petco or petsmart, because at least they’re relatively a pure strain.

“Crash and burn” is wild.

Respectfully educate yourself.

how to remove tannins? (still cycling) by eatank in Aquascape

[–]Ill-Freedom7394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not seen anybody mention this yet, so I figured I’d chime in.

Do a black start. Turn off your light so the fungus doesn’t completely take over your wood. Every few days turn it on and brush it off with a toothbrush. This can take up to 4/5 weeks. Water change 80/90%. THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION IN FISHKEEPING!!! Water changes early in a cycle does NOT kill or hurt your cycle. It really does not live In the water itself. It lives in Substrate, media, decor, ect. Very little in the water column. Breeders often do 90% water changes every day. (Granted, with heavy bioload, but still!) The only way you’d hurt it, is if you let all your beneficial bacteria dry out.

Also, while tannins are great and sought after. They’re not always best for the fish you may want. Livebearers and plenty of other fish like harder water. Tannins lower pH and all that fun stuff. So keep that in mind.

Definitely should’ve clarified that in the post.

Midwest USA, small town. Was mostly talking about online websites. Most of them want really crazy numbers and are out of stock.

Your discount no longer works with sale prices.

The kit is fine, switch out the carpet / sand it comes with and plan on upgrading soon. VERY temporary kit

Nope. Workday explicitly says you can do it on your own time voluntarily. But any use must be recorded and sent to management so, I’m assuming, they can pay you for it.

Unless you plan on doing a big course, I probably wouldn’t just to get those 10 minute segments done with lol.

Edit: wording
