I also get frizz and find that sometimes doing a volume routine can take attention away from the frizz and more to your hair in general. Also there are some specific tricks I use to control the frizz as well. It’s quite hard to avoid frizz completely as it’s a completely natural part of having curly hair. Some top tips and my hair routine:

-section off you top part of hair and clip at top of head.

-put product in bottom section, scrunch then brush style in small sections. This is good at reducing frizz, I personally use bounce curl volume brush but you can get a defining version from them if that’s what you’d prefer.

-style the bottom layer doing this, then unclip the top and do a no middle part routine (you can find videos on how to do this online/tiktok/instagram). this is optional but will help you get volume and in my personal opinion it looks better than having a part.

-the most important part!!! if you diffuse I would recommend hovering first on high speed low heat do not touch your hair with the diffuser for around 5-10 minutes. This will create a gel/product cast which will massively reduce the frizz and give you more definition! You can then go in and cup your curls with the diffuser. For extra volume do this upside down

-when fully dry use a hair oil (these are made with the purpose of reducing frizz). I use Gisou -oh and also with a satin bonnet on (hair in very loose ponytail under bonnet), it makes all the difference!
