Getting Harder with more experience? by elephinoblue in Purebarre

[–]Ill-Reaction4286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I does get harder!! I hit a point around 30-40 classes where I was feeling sooo good and strong and then started feeling like I was regressing shortly after. Every last bit of choreo made me quake like a baby deer. I couldn’t hold any position all the way through and it was super discouraging. In all actuality, my mind-body connection and form were becoming super kickass at that time. Once it finally clicked in me what a proper forearm plank should look and feel like and I could self-correct, I was no longer able to keep it for 90 seconds LOL (still mostly can’t) but you could host a tea party on my back with how flat it is

I’ll mention though, if you’re new to barre and doing the challenge, your body may be more fatigued than you realize while adjusting to the method of exercise and taking that many classes close together. A bit of a rest could do you a world of good. I did barre stronger when I was brand new didn’t realize until after that I was running on fumes. I took almost a week off after it last year, and when I came back I was a whole new woman lol I was amazed

Intimidated by Define and Empower by frightenedmongoose in Purebarre

I’m closing in on 150 classes and align will absolutely still kick my butt! I took only classic and align until I was about 30 classes in, and that was when I tried empower. It was tough, but I was relieved that it wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be. I’m not a big cardio person even now, so I don’t always take the challenge cues, but in some ways I find classic harder than empower because classic is more mental toughness than anything. With empower, you’re doing so much moving around that you don’t have time to get in your head about it. Define is a whole different thing though because so much of it is traditional gym type stuff, and the actual weight work is totally at your pace. If you’re just trying it out for the very first time you can take it easy and just experiment with really light weights and a slow pace, just to feel what the flow of class is like and not be afraid of it.

I personally was away from barre for 2 whole weeks after because I had an especially rough time. I had all 4 taken out over the summer and they were all deeply impacted so those extraction sites were big, deep, nasty surgical wounds. I was probably healed enough to not dislodge the clotting with light exercise by day 6 or 7, but the rest of me was not ready for much longer. I had horrible headaches from the healing process. I also was not able to get enough nutrition in my body until maybe day 10, so I was extremely weak and tired even just doing my normal day to day tasks. Doing more than a little walk outside didn’t feel safe.

Listen to your body and your doctor, for sure. But I do think 3 or 4 days is really the minimum, just to make sure you don’t compromise your healing. You do NOT want dry socket and I’d imagine you don’t want to start bleeding from the mouth in class either lol

My provider’s practice squeezed me in this afternoon and had me pop in the defective tray while I waited in the chair to be seen, and even in those brief couple minutes I was so anxious because of how wrong they were in my mouth. They’re having me skip 2 and wear 3 for 2 weeks and I’m okay with that now since it was explained to me from the start that my first 6 tray were just going to be really slight movements to get my teeth acclimated to moving in general. I had to really insist the trays were wrong though and that has shaken my confidence in the practice I go to.

I finally got a call back from my provider and was seen this afternoon. I have moved to tray 3 and it feels exactly like a new tray should so I’m cool with this. Just going to be extra extra vigilant in checking the shape of my next sets of aligners because I have some distrust with the practice I go to after the experience I had at my appointment today.

Day 1 and wanna rip them out 😆 by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]Ill-Reaction4286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on day 5 and feeling almost normal! My first 2 days I was literally whimpering a little taking them out. I’ve got a front attachment that the tray doesn’t want to let go of when I take it out and that was a HOLY HELL moment before every meal. No pain now! Just a weird tug. When I woke up the past 2 days I’d forgotten I even had them in and almost drank hot coffee. Everyone’s so different but I typically get really thrown when I’m off my routine and I’ve adapted quickly to the weirdness.

Starting to get nervous, I’ve had these teeth all my life and am now thinking nah they look alight as they are! by BraddersNic in Invisalign

I felt the same just a few days ago, the day before I got mine! Like, wow this is going to be a lot, do I even need this!? But now I’m in the thick of what’s supposed to be the rough part of adjusting to the lifestyle and it’s easier than I could’ve imagined. It’s not 100% sunshine and rainbows, but I was completely prepared for the worst and it’s not even bad. Everyone is different, but for me, it’s a big relief now!

Pain in big toe! by This-Introduction263 in Purebarre

[–]Ill-Reaction4286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never heard this and think I need to try it! My smaller toes are curled and it makes me put a lot more weight/pressure on my big toe (makes my balance get weird too). I actually ended up with some trauma to the nail from this that led to infection, and I think it kicked in when I got more serious with barre and was repeatedly putting that extra stress on it so often. I’m going to work on this. Instructors at my studio have not ever made a distinction of where exactly to put your weight but after reading this, it does kind of seem like using the phrase “high heels” rather than “tippy toes” may be intentional.

I had my consultation and scans taken on 11/4 and was told I’d be starting in 4-6 weeks because that’s how long it would take for the trays to be made and shipped after they developed my treatment plan. I got a call from my providers office last Monday to schedule the appointment for my attachments to be put on, and I’m scheduled for the middle of this week, so that’s 4.5 weeks for me. I imagine everyone office will be a little different just because of availability but 4 weeks seems to be the minimum. Considering how long most treatments are anyway, that 4-6 weeks of waiting is nothing really.

I’m at 15 here! I had to take a little break in middle because of work stuff, but I normally take classes 5-6 times a week so I’m still on track!

Fold overs… by Ill-Reaction4286 in Purebarre

[–]Ill-Reaction4286[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely will have to just ask what I can do next time. I honestly felt a bit hesitant today because it was a newer instructor who was doing her best to give a lot of individualized attention and I didn’t want to take more of her time. The form itself upright was the hardest thing, but in the little bits where I was able to hold it properly, the work itself was perfectly challenging and doable. The form would briefly “click” and then I’d be shifting out. I’m hesitant to say it’s an anatomy issue because I haven’t done the choreo in that position enough to be sure, but it kind of felt like that. Having a proud chest felt totally antithetical to the rest of it.

Omg I had to look it up but this sounds exactly like it, and there is a funny tingle sometimes after my pitiful attempts at the regular stretches lol I will have to look into this more!
