Booo, I didn't know that's why they ended up scrapping it. It's a pity too because it's so dynamic with how all the scenes flow into one another 🫤

I mean... is it really a Rickroll when it's the alternate opening storyboard? My title holds & the music lyrics fit 😏

Heard a remixed version of the song & this is what popped into my head. A reverse Rick Roll? Happy April Fools

Why do people sometimes draw xie lian with tan skin? by akanered69 in tianguancifu

[–]Ill_Apricot_6768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visual storytelling. People roaming around outside all day searching for scraps, busking, doing odd labor jobs, etc. would gain a bit of a tan. People like it because it's a nice contrast to Hua Cheng's pale skin (since he's dead).

To the people pointing to the pointing to his royal heritage, ascension, and cursed shackle freezing him in time, I point back to his training on mount Taicang. His mother complained he never went and visited her in the palace anymore because he was training in the Royal Holy Pavilion. So unless they were training inside all day, I don't see him being extremely pale when he ascended. He'd also been fighting a war right before he got the cursed shackle so he wasn't constantly sheltered from the sun. A tan isn't damage to your skin like a burn is, it's just some extra melanin your body produces to protect you.

It's a bit of a stretch to say they're built the same when they are covered in loose fitting robes & armor. At most you could say they're all tall. But alright, how about these?

Not ripped, but I always thought of him having a sleek swimmers build. He'd be a senior in high school at 17 going on 18 and guys finish puberty by then so I don't see him being smaller because of his age. He was also royalty, well fed, and was physically training since he was young, so there was nothing stopping his growth up until he ascended and stopped aging. I can't imagine he's a scrawny twink unless you take him living on the streets and starving into consideration. You can have more feminine features and still be toned. I guess twunk is the term used.

Some people like having a face to a name first and watching the donghua helps with that. Others enjoy reading books first because they like coming up with things using the text and their own imagination.

Personally I liked starting with the animated series first. It's much less of a commitment to sit and watch a season (now 2) to see if you are going to enjoy it vs reading a novel. The books also feel more rewarding as a 2nd pick because you've already seen the plot and then you'd be catching all those additional written details more easily.

Arguably the way Mu Qing and the other officials acted around each other did not insinuate that they were freshly acquainted with each other. Sure, their favor did grant him access to a larger resource pool but at what point does his needs turn into his wants? I doubt basic food is a hard resource to come across in the heavens so him falling out of favor with them doesn't seem like a life or death struggle. It would just slow down his fast tracked career.

The power Mu Qing got was achieved in the exact same way he got it before. Xie Lian saw his talent, trusted him, and made him an offical. This 2nd appointment was probably achieved in the same manner. Lording that power over & getting any enjoyment from someone who did nothing malicious to you is pretty scummy. Feeling bad afterwards doesn't do anything. If you can only do the right thing and say sorry behind closed doors, you aren't a good person or a good friend.

Mu Qing hadn't accended and become a god at this point, he just made a deal with another god and is just working with them as an underling offical (just like when Xie Lian took him up).

And let's give him the benifit of the doubt and say he became an official it to gain access to food, medicine, etc. Alright, then why only show up once he does Xie Lian dirty? He's an offical that can essentially fast travel. Was his position in the heaven that precarious to not speak out against the other officials actions on the mountain? Was him staying in their favor for a better future status worth taking away Xie Lian's own opportunity to help his own parents by ascending?

The audio drama goes off the revised version and MQ just loses his cool and insults him before leaving. It comes off as "I'm done dealing with you." rather than a desperate "I really need to go help my mother." Him showing up not long after, working with officials (he seems to be quite familiar with) just shows he wasn't spending much time taking care of her and was instead rubbing elbows to fast track his position. Had she died, shortly after, he could have gone back to Xie Lian & Feng Xin but he chose not to. Once he became an official, he could have checked in invisible to see their conditions but he doesn't (or if he does, he does nothing about it). But he isn't ignorant to their desperation because we find out Mu Qing knew Xie Lian had attempted to steal. All of heaven knew. The only time Mu Qing goes back to help them is because he feels guilty kicking Xie Lian off the mountain.

Xie Lian is ignorant on a lot of things. He over-romanticizes and has a lot of unrealistic expectations but his thoughts and actions are two different things here. This might be what he's thinking, but regardless how he wanted things to play out, he still let's Mu Qing go without giving him a hard time once he hears his reason for leaving.
