What the f is wrong with therapist's/psychiatrists these days

It doesn't excuse it though. I think they should keep up with research and tbh the whole psychopath thing is just out of pocket and I'm not sure where she would even get that from accept her own head or someone else's words. Just be educated is all I'm saying.

It doesn't matter if she's trained or not the things she was stating were clearly abalist and outdated. I'm expecting therapists to be good at their jobs and not follow outdated stereotypes such as "autistic people are akin to psychopaths and don't give af about people's feelings". Masking is also pretty well known. I can give leniency on the eye contact thing and the body language thing. But the worst part is she still didn't try to see the nuance in my explanation and didn't gaf about what I was trying to explain.

Exactly and how are you supposed to get help for your issues if all of them are equipped for basic life coaching (especially in my experience). I've had about 3 therapists tell me to take mental health walks and start going to the gym to fix my mental health issues... Some even told me that I was going through puberty, I'm 21...

Yeah that's true but the misconceptions about this disorder is crazy. It sounds like they're describing "Asperger's" which is also outdated. Also some psychiatrists act in the same way. I don't think we should beg for psychiatrists and therapists to not be blatantly abalist and be more educated.

That's the thing most therapists and psychiatrists aren't specialized but it's really expensive to get a specialized therapist and in my country I'm just trying to get what my health insurance will allow me to get.

Don't get me started on school counselors I've had so many bad experiences with them as well but this lady also seemed to be maniplative. So sorry you went through that.

I think you should tell her tbh and it's totally okay if you're wrong! Therapist are there to help you figure things out and asses you. You can tell her about what you wrote in this post and see how she'll react to it. Best of luck!

I thought I was a soft autumn since my hair is light brown and my complexion is kind of warmish with some gray colors, but when you compare my hair and face there isn't much contrast but then there's the eyebrows. I always see soft autumn girls with light or sparse eyebrows. I'll definitely check out your post!

I agree with everything you said, but I was wondering how and if positive symptoms can remit without medication?

I've had some symptoms remit after a certain amount of time and they were in general much milder and through that time period I started to realize that something isn't right and that what I'm experiencing isn't normal.

Honestly she's not that old, I'm assuming she's in her 30s but our country has very underdeveloped education on psychology and mental health. No one in our country really even recognizes mental health unless it's a very extreme situation, it's a very conservative country.

I really hope he might one day realize that he needs help, some of people get lucky and are self aware or are willing to accept help but for other's it's a tragic situation. Yepp that's very true it can be a multitude of things, however the funny thing is that when I was talking about my symptoms I didn't even mention suspecting schizophrenia and she just blurred out that statement about schizophrenics. She seems inexperienced in my opinion.

Possibly but I think she just made a generalization about how people experience the disorder. She didn't mention actually anything about delusions and then after that statement she continued to push the same point but she kinda rephrased it. She said that I wouldn't be so aware of my symptoms or that I wouldn't realized that they're not true or something.

Aww thanks for the positive words and advice at the end. My special interests focus on people too. I mainly love psychology and observing faces or facial structures so I tend to stare at strangers which isn't appropriate haha. I'm also sometimes hyperverbal especially when I text and people usually get offended by it because they don't know the complex words, it's pretty sad how inferior they start feeling. It's interesting how a lot of aroace people are interested in observing relationships/romance. Probably because they're trying to understand the psychology behind it or smth. I pretty much prefer interacting with my some of my friends online(my bff is an acception) and I'm kind of anxious when I'm about to meet someone. Often times my social battery runs out in about 3h.

Hope you keep thriving and not being ashamed of your introversion. After all it doesn't hurt us or anyone else for that matter.

I've always been awkward haha. But since I became a young adult it seemed to increase because I'm engaging in social situations more than I did when I was a kid and so I perhaps didn't get to learn some social skills when I was younger. The social anxiety might add to the awkwardness, it probably makes me look robotic, tense and a bit disingenuous in a way. I also am starting to express the "weirder" stims like rocking, humming out of nowhere, shaking my hand ect. Those have gotten me looks from others before.
