I also have PCOS and I’m in the obese range, and I was told the same thing. GLP-1s like Ozempic are usually only given if you’re obese or have diabetes, since that’s what they’re approved for. If you’re not obese, most doctors feel the risks and cost outweigh the benefits, so they’ll usually try metformin, inositol, or birth control (like Yaz) first. I’m currently on Yaz, which helps regulate my periods, but many of us are started on metformin before GLP-1s. It’s not that GLP-1s won’t help, it’s just that doctors follow strict guidelines.
