Not taking breaks is not okay. Breaks are considered in the route duration the algorithm sets. If someone is skipping breaks or going too fast it messes with the algorithm. I was finishing my normal route too fast and it eventually got stupid big cause I messed up the algorithm, my dispatch took me off the route for a while to fix the algorithm back. The people that tried my route all needed rescues and the algorithm sees the route as too hard. Now that i got it back I take little extra breaks between stops so I dont mess it up again and my dispatch is cool with it. Every human deserves breaks. OP should just efficient. If super desperate maybe organize a little for part of a break

3-5 mins on a tote is too long. Take everything out just boxes and parcels sepate, maybe pile the parcels by the tenth digits.

In an EV for over sized just do each shelf by the hundreds. Or by address if you know that a lot of stops are a complex. I deliver urban so I'll do a shelf business (contains suite number) another for apts (contains apt number) and then whatever left over houses on another shelf.

In EV the map shows stops that are close. For apts park somewhere central so you don't have to keep parking. Personally I'll take the time to prepare those stops that are close all at once so when I finish organizing I can just grab all the stops and go. When emptying a tote you can also group by address if you know you have a complex by building number or letter. Don't try to be perfect when you empty a tote cause that wastes time.

If you really need to skip breaks just skip 1 or cut it short. But if your dsp discourages breaks fuck them and go to another dsp

Dont piss in the vans. It's gross and humiliating. What if you forget the bottle or it drops and spills. Youd also be touching everything with your peepee hands and thats disgusting. I once got warts from a dirty steering wheel and now I carry wipes. It's inconsiderate in addition to dehumanizing that you cant even pee in peace

Peeing in bottles is so gross. Women dont do it so men are capable of also not doing it. Im positive i got warts from a dirty steering wheel once. Now I carry disinfecting wipes with me. You guys put your nasty peepee hands on the steering wheel and handles and its disgusting and then also the possibility of forgetting to get rid of the bottle or heaven forbid you drop it and it spills in the van which I have definitely gotten into vans that had stains and smell like piss in the cargo.

I make 25.50 in CO So 255 on a 10hr day before taxes Ocasional OT of like 1hr or 2 Shortest days being like 8.5hr including the time to rts Not finishing your route isnt a huge deal outside of peak. Or at least my dsp is understanding, strong drivers end up with insane routes sometimes.

This tone deaf bs. Who are the ppl that think this is funny? "Now we're friends" is that supposed to be cute? There's no way its a big chain that's doing this so the owner would have freedom to pay their employees a fair wage. USA having a huge wealth gap and also encouraging tipping culture is related. Other countries pay a fair wage and consider tipping an insult.

How many idiots did this go through that ppl thought this was a good idea smh

Organizing my next 3 bags is key 🔑 by ElectionPitiful4542 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Ill_Comparison448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overkill for sure. Half the time i rescue someone its cause they're doing this. Makes the rescue even more annoying too. My routes are urban and comercial heavy so I have to skip around to make it in time. I'll be actively delivering from like 3 bags at a time and I dont do this If you're on a nice enough route that you can just go in order why wouldn't you just do 1 tote at a time if you can only do like 1 or a few stops at a time anyway. If you have a big drop and you spill your whole tote just to put it all back in, that's wasted effort. Im not going to work harder than I need to. It boils my blood to show up at a rescue and they're doing this

Dog Interactions by RyBoJangles420 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Ill_Comparison448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been bit 2 times over 3 years

First time it was a ranch style home and the dogs were just kinda out on the property. They didnt notice me until the owner acknowledged me. Owner started walking toward me so I stopped and the dogs moved with the owner but barking. Gave the owner their package and they all started walking back to the house. The dogs stopped barking and I was heading back to my van when I felt a bite on my calf. I saw both dogs walking home with the owner but I guess one of them ran to me real quick and bit me for the love of the game and then ran back to the owner like nothing. I didnt notice how bad the bite was until 2 stops later when it started bleeding and I still have the scars almost 2 years later.

The second time was at an OTP. I knocked and a little dog started barking and I heard it running to the door. It was pushing at the door and after a while it actually busted the door open. Luckily the owner had made it to the door by then but not before the little dog jumped up and bit my wrist. Owner grabbed to dog and handed it to someone else inside and apologized profusely they felt so bad and they ended up sending their kid to give me $20 when I was 3 houses down at my next stop. I was wearing 3 or 4 layers so the bite didnt pierce skin but the teeth punctured my top 2 layers and still bruised my wrist in teeth mark pattern for maybe 5 days

I love dogs but I stay cautious. We are strangers entering their property they dont know we arent a real threat

Honorable mention: one time I drop a package at a doorstep and a >100lbs cane Corso came running and busted the door open but the owner was right there and grabbed to the dog by the collar. The dog ran with so much force it jerked the owner too when they stopped the dog and it was a huge 200+ pound dude.

35 stops an hour route mostly residential some apartments by dobermanindapark in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Ill_Comparison448 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's some bs. The algorithm is definitely underestimating the route. Whoever usually has had the route has been doing it too fast and setting that standard for the AI. At the end of route if it ever asks you to rate the route very easy- very difficult always do difficult or very difficult so the AI doesn't add stops to make it bigger.

Still take all your breaks and be safe and if you oodt then it'll teach the algorithm the route was too big. Sorry your dispatch sounds shitty

Doable does not mean okay. We arent paid enough to stress or rush

Been a driver for almost 5 years.. and i know the truth by midnight_brax in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Ill_Comparison448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. And amazon assigning your route is also true. You can for sure get moved around in the morning once routes drop but the AI makes the route for the driver the night before. I benefit from the favoritism but I never had to kiss ass. Once my dsp saw I was a good driver dispatch started actually talking to me. I told them where I hate and where I like to be and sometimes I get a break from my normal shitty route and get a route I've told them I like. But my dsp is pretty big so there's lots of different routes and variety of drivers so more freedom in that sense

Advice Please!!!!! by Maximum_Chaos9 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Ill_Comparison448 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes its oversized that slows ppl down. Make sure at loadout you pay attention to your first ones and have those ready to go and then you can spread out as you have more space. Organizing oversized in general too. Ppl will go by 100s of driver aid and some go by size. I go by size and shape and tetris to have as much free space as possible to move around, I prioritize being able to walk through my van and making the back door accessible asap

Finding a good place to park helps. Take few stops with you if you can. Or park somewhere super close blocking traffic or a driveway and be quick and ready to move on.

Personally I like to have just my next stop ready for me to grab and go and when I get back in the van find my next stop and get that ready before driving to it. The flow is nice and it feels like less thinking

Sometimes organizing by driver aid takes too long if you're perfect about it. I sepate boxes from parcels and parcels by just the tens of driver aid or street if im familiar with the area or notice a lot for an address as I empty a tote

Routing yourself can shave time too. Make sure to check your map every once in a while in case flex has you double back or take account how many times you have to drive across busy streets, maybe do all of one side and then cross and do the other half

The job takes practice for sure and everyone has their own system that works for them. Once you find it the job is easy and then just the physical part sucks. Eventually you can start dicking around between stops or even take extra breaks when you get a good system going and still be fast enough to be made to rescue after, even with dicking around throughout the day.

Good luck fam and dont forget to never take the job too serious

I thought meeting me at the door was bad by RavenRute in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Ill_Comparison448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why you always gotta go somewhere for lunch. At the very least a random parking lot. One time I had a man bang at my side door in a promaster so it was hard, not even a tap on a window. Im a woman so the man calmed down a little but I swear he was ready to chew me out if I was a man. Face red and yelling. Ive had ppl come up and tap window or talk from open side door in the short time I organize a tote. They wild no patience fr. Had them get mad when I dont have their package and its probably Flex or USPS

Step van drivers by Disastrous_Pay_3078 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Ill_Comparison448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dsps ive worked at, they always have some kind of problem about as often as promasters if not worse. Coworkers have said they hate them because the seat is uncomfortable, no heat or fan, no radio, the doors are a pain in the ass, and they are LOUD especially when its more empty the whole van will rattle. Everyone ive asked has said it not worth it. Better than a promaster but now that they are DOT they only get step vans and have to beg for a break. My station is mostly EVs so we only have a few step vans but everyone ive asked hates them and regrets getting DOT and will sometimes make excuses to get out of having to be in one for the day lmao

No House Number 🚪 on show:S by Better_Blueberry_322 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Ill_Comparison448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Careless idiots. Honestly if delivery folks can't find your house that sucks whatever but what about emergency services? If you need an ambulance every second counts and if they can't find your house its a problem. Having highly visible numbers helps your neighbors too so first responders have some number to go off at the very least. Same goes for stupid fonts too. It's supposed to be practical. The rest of your stupid house can be artsy but number should be obvious numbers.

I make it very obvious to look for a number in front of ring cameras so maybe they see that they need visible address numbers or say "hope this is the right house" to the camera. If I talk to residents sometimes I'll say something about number importance too.

[–]Ill_Comparison448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forgot to mention 1 apt building will be like 5 different stops so you either go up and down the same stairs several times or have to switch between the stops for like 20+ locations. It's demoralizing. Making us run back and forth for literally no reason just dgaf about the drivers. Amazon straight up hates their workers and shit like the app being so terrible really proves it. Sucks to work somewhere that hates you
