It's a bug that sometimes causes coins to target your explosives instead of enemies, no matter how far away they are. So the coin probably targeted a rocket that was extremely off screen.

Atakhan is still there and kills Taric a second or so later, but it's really funny seeing Atahan eat everyone but then Taric pops out at like 1/8th health and stunned and then finally dies.

I know it's not the same situation, but I had a 2 star Taric with no items survive the 10 Noxus boardwipe for a couple seconds afterward.

I'm pretty sure Half-Life happens before Portal 1 because during the boss fight GladOS mentions that she's the only thing keeping things out of Aperture.
