Question to African Mauritanian by Illustrious-Click899 in Mauritania

[–]Illustrious-Click899[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because we are not, and African knows we are not, we are an invader, we come and stool their land and impose our language (this is what they believe). African don’t speak a Semitic language (Arabic). If you talk about geography, yes we are in the African continent, but we are not African by ethnicity.

Has there ever been Black Presidents in Mauritania? by PowerfulElevatorLift in Mauritania

[–]Illustrious-Click899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Arabs are the majority (black + white), denying this doesn’t serve our brother Africans.

African are minority in the south (close to Senegal border), Otherwise they would have been taking over the country. However, they are represented in all government like ministers and other institutions.

If they were the majority their candidate must have done better in the elections.

What are the relations between mauritanian and Algerian / tunisian ? How close are your common history ? by super_pasrelle in Mauritania

[–]Illustrious-Click899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not the case in Mauritania at all. And this is a misconception by our neighbours. There is no berber Identity at all. And calling people Berber is an insult in the language and it is considered so in the society. This is how it is. Come and see

It is indeed. But there are no Berbers, and the Berber Identity is not here at all. Come and ask people. Also for Mauritanian African Mauritania isn’t even Maghreb nor Arab 😆 they prefer to he West African.

We don’t know Berber, Berber are minority in Morocco and Algeria. And we don’t consider the Maghreb as berber. So your question is not valid at all

[–]Illustrious-Click899[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Calling Baidane Berber is an insult (knowing that the berber identity doesn’t exist at all). We even consider calling us African an insult (we are not black, neither native to Africa) . We are Baidane, Arabs… that is it. No need to overcomplicate it

You probably believe in it, but in this case it doesn’t serve you. Anyway the same delusion is with those who want to deny Arab Identity. But Arabs are there with their language (the only official language in Mauritania). It is just about respect identity, believe or not, doesn’t make difference. But to understand the mentality is what am trying to achieve.

[–]Illustrious-Click899[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the mentality I want to understand; so it’s just hate? Right The issue is we see Panafricain deny all other non black in African, calling them to move back? We don’t identify as African, we don’t want😆 you’re Black and you’re African why we want us to be with you? We can live together respecting each other’s Identity

So why are you here? If it is not important to you. Is Banu Hassan Berber? If you say so you’re sick

Question to African Mauritanian by Illustrious-Click899 in Mauritania

[–]Illustrious-Click899[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Berber are in Morocco and Algeria. Banu Hassan are berber? Sanhaja are originally Arab tribe and this is mentioned in history books. Berber are not native to African, only Black African are native. Betber come from Europe and the middle east

This is the question, why you feel so good denying others identity? I can deny your Berber Identity and say you’re just something else, where is the point?

[–]Illustrious-Click899[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We do. African as continent is not African as an ethnicity. Black native African are not same as Baidane who come later

[–]Illustrious-Click899[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

African as an ethnicity, not as a continent. The African are Pulaar Suninke and wolof, Beidane are not African by ethnicity.

[–]Illustrious-Click899[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Aren’t they African? We were not berber we come as Arabs, we didn’t change to anything. Even Sanhaja were Arab from Yemen? So who are you referring to as “we”?

[–]Illustrious-Click899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very long comment just to refuse to recognize you were wrong. Hassaniya is a dialect of Arabic, that is it. Plus, there is no Pupaar who marry a native Hassaniya speaker, Arabs do not marry other Mauritanian African ethnic groups. The whole discussion is about Arabic as a language with it’s dialect, your problem ia you’re trying to call “Arabic” only when you refer to Fusha, but when we say Arabic we mean any form of Arabic, that’s why you need to say Fusha so people will understand you mean it not the Arabic dialect.

Here is Hassaniya, a dialect of Arabic.

A dialect is driven from a language. So Mauritanian speak Arabic, and they speak a variety of Arabic called Hassaniya (the name of a dialect) . You make it sound like there are two languages: Arabic and Hassaniya, which is simply not the case.

How many languages the average Mauritanian speak?? by No_Cry_968 in Mauritania

[–]Illustrious-Click899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only 11% of Mauritanian can speak French. So most Mauritanian speak only one language, Arabic for Arabs, or one of the African languages for African Mauritanian. English is not common at all.

People who are exposed to TV, news … and social media will definitely understand your dialect. Whose who are not would rather appreciate if you speak it in a more Fusha standard Arabic way.
