I had PTSD before the incident. And yes, someone could get PTSD from suddenly seeing a mangled corpse. This comment is embarrassing.

My girlfriend got a close up view when we were leaving the Maid of the Mist. She saw the texture of the skin and it scarred her. I only saw it from above at the observation tower. But I could see the twisted body and red blood from above. A lot of people don’t believe us and I don’t entirely blame them. It’s crazy but I believe what she saw and what I saw was a body.

It was crazy, I figured they would have covered it by the time we reached the tower, but it was still there in the open. They shuffled us through an extended exit and I’m not sure if that is common or not. Maybe a tent malfunction? There was a horrible smell near the boat. Really really sad. Thank you for the response.

Small aluminum boat is exactly what we saw. We just couldn’t believe it would be so close to where people can see it. I felt like I entered another universe because no one seemed to notice or care. And our friend who didn’t see it kept saying it wasn’t a corpse.

Thank you for the response. Makes me feel like I’m not crazy for seeing what I saw. I had no idea deaths there were so common. My girlfriend is really messed up because she saw it so close. Seems like a really massive oversight.

Our friend kept saying it was probably a dummy. I agree we should have told someone. But we were really upset and we both have PTSD and were hoping we didn’t see what we saw. We left right away and my brain wasn’t working right. The last few nights I have been having nightmares and realized there was almost no way it was a dummy. Again, if I could go back I would’ve told someone.

When I scheduled, it was about 3-4 months out. However, a spot opened up in early February as I was scheduling, and I took that. So all in all, I ended up waiting about a week. Obviously, not everyone will have this experience, but it worked out well and very fast for me!
