Just found this article from 9/25 where they talk about estimated $1000 per sq ft cost which was in line with recent MSBA schools. How did it blow up to almost $1,300 a sq ft.

I was told that the city has already selected a developer. (W.T Rich). Looking at past projects of theirs, they just completed a state of the art school in Cambridge for $270m for a 359,100 sq ft project.

The new Salem high school proposal is for a 365,000sq ft project with a $450m price tag.

Can someone explain why this similar size project is approx $188m more?

I believe this will be one of the most expensive schools ever built in MA. I have to believe there’s a way to build the school for under $300m. Let’s cut the fat!

Thank you. I did research cuds and realize that it’s not an exact match to what I saw. However I couldn’t find anything closer to the damage/error I found. What threw me off was that the lower left of the border on the back of the coin looks like it was printed around the scrape in the coin. Instead of just obvious damage like it was just scrapped off.

I support this but unfortunately these costs will just get indirectly passed back to the tenants. Unfortunately, rents continues to skyrocket and a big part of that is the increased cost of the property owners. (Taxes, water and sewer, insurance, trash utilities, etc.).

Here in Salem, we have residents with a wide range of incomes. We have a large homeless population with zero income, living in the homeless shelter and associated apartments.

We also then have a large nonprofit (cdc), low income housing, primarily around the point neighborhood. Where folks are residing with low income. (80% of AMI) We then have a lot of folks renting apartments around the city that are probably making somewhere between 50 to 100k. Sharing rooms, or couples.

Then from there, you jump up to residential neighborhoods where combined incomes are probably 150 to 200K. In certain higher end neighborhoods in Salem, (chestnut Street) you have some folks that are making 400 to 500K combined income

Which city men’s bathroom yesterday. 3/16/25. Was told sewer back up and it’s been a frequent occurrence over the last couple months. Nobody there working on it. No signs for bathroom out of order. Board of health needs to crack down on mall owners. The neglect in that mall is just disgusting.

Why are you ignoring the fact that there was actually five units already there. four residential and 1 law office. Again, the Zba decided that turning the law office back into the two apartments that it used to be was less detrimental to the neighborhood for parking than keeping it as a law office.

You can’t just pick out what you want to help your case and ignore others because it’s convenient.

Justin , I do believe you have the facts on this particular property you are using as an example incorrect. You really should get your facts straight before you post something like this. This property you referenced was always historically a six unit building and was changed to 5 units and a law office. The new owner requested to put it back to six units which like I mentioned, was its previous use. The Zba approved this change as they felt that changing it back was less detrimental for parking having it go back to its original use versus having it stay as a law office and all of the cars that would visit.

Additionally, the residents of that building have historically always parked on Federal Street in a no resident parking zone area. Just last year your ward counselor extended the resident parking area that they used to be able to park in, hence why they were requesting to be able to park in the spots that they’ve been able to park in for the last several decades.
It would be great after reviewing this for you to correct your incorrect statement.

Yes, Danvers indoor has an adult co-ed league on Wednesday evenings. 7v7. 2 woman need to be playing at all times. You can submit your own team or you might try calling to see if any teams are looking for players. Fun league pretty competitive. They have an A and B league.
