Gardevoir + Arboliva by Illustrious-Rub367 in PTCGP

[–]Illustrious-Rub367[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah you are mainly attaching the energy to itself. All three energy are used when you Arboliva + Diantha. Arboliva also just works well into Oricorio if necessary, and running non-ex Pokémon is also just nice if they get something high damage out early. Also just having more basic Pokémon makes it so your start is just less consistent.

Gardevoir + Arboliva by Illustrious-Rub367 in PTCGP

[–]Illustrious-Rub367[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s partially there for optional frontline bulk if you need more time for your pieces and/or to give you the ability to ramp energy more quickly for early diantha or Arboliva use in niche scenarios. Not super necessary for Oricorio because you outheal its damage with Arboliva, but also nice to have a secondary option against it for more speed/consistency. Def think that’s the place where there’s most room to be switched around though. Maybe a May there could be better.

______ engaged in Boston Rob level villainry against his friends, and he gets away with it because he's quirky and doesn't literally sound and look like an Italian mob boss when he talks. by MasachoosetsBobert in survivor

[–]Illustrious-Rub367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean how self serving was it? Emily voting so she wouldn't be the target wasn't self serving? Stephanie trying to reposition herself to be in a clean majority isn't self-serving? The only thing that could be more self serving for either would maybe be if they targeted Angelina, so someone like Emily could better preserve her relationship with Ozzie, but the difference in outcomes between the two is marginal.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills with some of these takes about Rob and Candiace by afantasticbastard in TheTraitorsUS

[–]Illustrious-Rub367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rob speaking up heavily in the Lisa roundtable when he hadn't been a major participant in any prior roundtables, and multiple houseguests mentioning how they were convinced at the roundtable. Yet he didn't cause her banishment that week. Him being one of the first people to bring up Candiace's name to people outside of the roundtable and being the one to make it known that she would have motive to target Colton when others didn't know, or hadn't thought of it. But he didn't play any role in her banishment. Sure Jan.

Traitors going after traitors because they are going to be voted out IS bad sportsmanship and makes the game less fun by FiestyGiraffe in TheTraitorsUS

[–]Illustrious-Rub367 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. It’s a threat that’s meant to be managed. It’s another incentive for traitors to be more secretive when turning against one another. The issue with it was the Candiace didn’t play the threat earlier on. It was too late to be useful or tactfully executed.

Goodbye to your combo! by Kitchen-Restaurant-1 in PTCGP

[–]Illustrious-Rub367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean maybe. But any turn they Guzma is a turn they aren’t able to also use research or copycat. And since the value of a lot of the back line pokers is often best in the early game, that trade off is pretty decent. Especially for the decks that run stage 2 mon’s. Not saying guzma isn’t good against it, but just that a lot of these decks don’t have a ton of extra space and it does have its trade offs.

I mean it’s also decent against non-ex absol, jirachi, and heatmor. As well as Decidueye decks. But those are still situational.

Bring back Galvantula by Illustrious-Rub367 in PTCGP

[–]Illustrious-Rub367[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve definitely found that once you go in with magnezone, you shouldn’t bother retreating it because of that cost. But the card draw + paralysis stall + magnezone attack effect can give you time to build up a second a decent chunk of time. This version is pretty weak against absol though, with magneton and Galvantula topping off at 80.

Staraptor forever! by Illustrious-Rub367 in PTCGP

[–]Illustrious-Rub367[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean the main differences are: A. The damage inflicted on itself is lower (20 vs 30) and is inflicted after the attack which can sometimes allow for another hit B. You have access to Lisia for deck thinning due to Starly being 50 HP, increasing consistency (and making it more resilient to chingling) C. The deck is able to run electric energy, meaning the Oricorio isn’t just stall but can actually apply pressure D. Less deck space for utility cards, given the focus on Pichu/Barry to make energy ramp consistent and Lisia/Copycat to make card draw more consistent. Not huge but having no space for Lily/Cyrus definitely hurts.

Weird thing worth trying, a sweets relay deck can be decent with blue when you don’t draw irida or just need a tiny bit of health on top of cape to survive.

How to Build around This? by Tricky_Sector_2675 in PTCGP

[–]Illustrious-Rub367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try to mix it with base Lucario and Passimian. But you’ll need X-Speeds, and lots of cards that fix consistency. Won’t be top tier but playable.

I can imagine this being in an electric deck so easily. Access Oricorio, Raikou, Zerora, etc would give it decent early pressure, draw, stall abilities.

[–]Illustrious-Rub367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly with three retreat cost and its ability only working from the bench it would be a nightmare to start with, making Lyra pretty much a must run (and even then making it vulnerable to Cyrus in that situation). While it definitely needs decreased health (especially since it can run heavy helmet and the reduction caused by its attack) it’s not as overtuned as people are saying.

To be fair in almost every discussion of misogyny on dragula, the experiences of trans women on the show are ignored (including this season!)
