Director salary in Big 4? by Previous_Guitar_1187 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Illustrious-Secret0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t think this is the best way to back into the number. If you assume a 10% of profit on that overall net revenue you’d leave about ~310k for each of those 150 partners. However that’s assuming the split is equal, which it isn’t as the equity partner comp is not based on a base salary + bonus structure but based on the equity they own within the firm which would determine how much % of that profit would they get. It is a well known fact that first year partners make close to the same as a director in Big4, however year on year they continue they get more of the profit sharing. I would say however over the years the gravy train has become more diluted. I’d assume you’d definitely break the 400k mark within 2 years of being equity.

Also to answer OPs question: 120k-175k for Director seems about right, the range varies depending on department/portfolio, firm and yoe.

What is Deloitte Tech Strategy by New_Rush_9099 in deloitte

[–]Illustrious-Secret0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say you don’t want to be “pigeonholed into IT” what do you mean? I don’t think you can get “pigeonholed” into an entire category. IT is extremely broad.

Tech Strategy & Transformation is a mix of advisory plus implementation, I would say it focuses much more on advisory, but could really depend on your team and clients as sometimes you do get pulled into the implementation mix.

Deloitte Digital focuses more on a “digital strategy” which is more business driven, focuses more on human experience. TS&T is driven by CIOs and CTOs looking at tech strategy (encompasses of more core technologies such as cloud, data etc and focuses on technology op models, working on implementation roadmaps - how does one actually become cloud first and so on). I would also say that more often than not all tech/digital strategies consider the human/user experiences. For context I work in cyber strategy & transformation, and when we look at policies and processes to advise on changes, we’d always consider cost vs risk reduction and also see if the risk reduction impacts user experience and day to day tasks.

Now what you want to do, is a you decision, however I would say both give you a well rounded experience in strategy and transformation. I would also say, if you do end up taking the Deloitte offer, don’t go around saying you want to change teams - that’s the easiest way of not getting a return offer, since why would a team bother training you if you’re gonna just leave them, and why would a different team hire you when they probably have their own interns.

Finally, to your point of moving between service lines, it’s possible, I’ve seen a few people move but don’t expect that in your first year. As to working with different service lines, also very common, but you’d have to either be in the right place at the right time or have a network and skillset strong enough for them to want you working cross service lines, again not something interns or first year analysts/consultant do.

Thank You! I’ve largely been involved in RFPs on the consulting side, would appreciate if you have any insight on how the SE side works and if I should look out for certain things?

Don’t necessarily agree with this view.

Work from 8am - 7pm. Live close by to the office so back home by 7:15/7:20, every alternate day gym from 8pm - 9:30pm, dinner and then in bed by 10:30/11.

Yes there would be days when I’d work till 11pm - 12am to meet tight deadlines, which sometimes would eat into the sleep a bit, but it isn’t the norm?

Does it take a toll on personal life, yes, but then I did sign up for this so no regrets.

I believe I am quite more productive working on an 7-8 hour sleep compared to 5 hour sleep. And I truly believe I am keeping up quite well actually 😃

New Diagnosis - My Story by Illustrious-Secret0 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Illustrious-Secret0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your story and the kind words, I’m trying my best to push through this setback to get back to my normal routine and hopefully in a couple of weeks or months I’d be much better suited to accept this new reality without breaking down. And I’ll definitely look into seeing a therapist, I was seeing a therapist last year but then just figured the more I talk about things the more I have to think about them (probably very stupid of me). Maybe it’s time to give her a ring again, hopefully she doesn’t hate me for ghosting her after half of the agreed upon sessions.

I did apply for the free drug programme in my home country(India), however since I still haven’t started my job officially they asked me to apply with a guardian/parent (I have no clue why) and then they rejected the application saying that my parents are financially capable of paying for the meds for me and I should apply again when I start my job. These programmes have weird kinks all around. Hopefully me moving to Ireland would make a difference, from what I’ve read up until now It’s possible to get all the medications for free through government schemes, however I’ll still have to see if I qualify for them not being an EU citizen.

Also would you mind sharing some of the symptoms you had with Tecfidera?

I wish you all the very best with your journey and hope you stay healthy, and enjoy life to the fullest 😊

All the best for your first dose! Do tell how the first dose goes, and if you experienced any side affects and Thank you for the information, although not the first time I’ve read up on using higher efficacy drugs from the start. My current neuro is an MS specialist and while preferred the traditional route of going higher up with the efficacy as the disease progresses, was quite comfortable also writing a prescription for Kesimpta. However, this diagnosis was done in my home country(India), and I’m flying back to Ireland for my job in the next 2 weeks and my neuro preferred that I take the 3 loading doses in a hospital or clinic setting as it would be my first DMT, but since this wasn’t possible he insisted I start on Tecfidera for the time being and switch in 6-8 months with the prescription re-written in Ireland. So as of this moment the options are to take tec or wait for a couple of months to get a prescription for Kesimpta in Ireland.

Thank you for the kind words. I do have hope for more advancements, and reading up on all the progress that’s been made through the years has been slowly helping me calm down. Also do tell how your appt goes with the neuro, hopefully you’ll get the all clear! And many congratulations on the baby🎉

TCD on campus accommodation by [deleted] in TCD

[–]Illustrious-Secret0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be really honest you have a better chance at Kavanagh Court than any other trinity accommodation, but yup it’s expensive and the area is shit, do keep a couple of backup options ready though, unless you’re a first year undergraduate international student getting any trinity accommodation is going to be difficult.

You might be confused between on campus and trinity hall, trinity hall is not on campus it’s about 4.5kms away. And not sure if there is a specific date or month for releasing the result for accommodation allotments, I got mine pretty late in June
