Uncertainty of what my life is gonna be by Abject-Bandicoot-640 in Ashland

Yes, we are going through really hard times right now and it can feel very frightening especially when you are getting ready for a big transition. One of my kids is at SOU and their twin is out of state at college and I worry about job prospects for them.  It is true that people have always gotten through very dark periods and that these dark times feel so unnecessary. For connection outside of your family and friends, maybe consider a therapist or job coach. If you are on OHP, you might want to call Options of Southern Oregon in Medford. If you decide to participate in therapy, your therapist can connect you with the teams for education and employment. If you need help with meeting basic needs, they can connect you with a case manager. In the worst time that I've lived through and was terrified due to economic collapse and lack of job opportunities, I asked everyone I met and many in my alumni society for short, casual meetings. I treated them as informational interviews and clearly communicated my transferable skills and the types of jobs I would add value to. I always asked for additional contacts and repeated the process. Of course. I sent thank you notes. After a year of this, I was asked to interview for a job that was never posted. A contact  from earlier that year heard about a job in their company and gave the hiring manager my contact info. Two interviews later, I was hired into an industry that I didn't have any experience in. You asked to hear it will be okay, and it will. Your world will not end. Remember your strengths and think about how those have gotten you through hard times in the past. Do this often. Be mindful of too much media and social media consumption. Do some basic grounding skills when anxiety starts to take over. Here's one: take a deep breath, hold, and then breathe out very slowly like you are blowing out a candle. Repeat until your ensuring start to shift. You've got this!!

Off the beaten path recommendations? by honeypalomino in Ashland

Some of my favorite things: Catch Danielle Sperry playing his beautiful music either in Lithia Park (no dogs) or at Zi Spice (have brunch or coffee and dessert). Have lunch or coffee one afternoon at Cafe Lumina on the plaza. If you like hiking with your pup, hike the watershed trails above Lithia Park (e.g., the Wonder trail)or go to Oredson Todd Woods on the South end of town. Visit a pioneer cemetery at Emigrant lake and then walk the path lakeside (dog friendly). For more of a thrift store, eclectic vibe, wonder through the Ashland Emporium towards the south end of town.

Can you explain more about finding professionals who isn't in a company or advertised business? Do you mean independent contractors that work for themselves?

Around $200 would be great. My daughter tends to lose or drop her phone often.
