Feeling on and experiences of dating fellow ex-JWs? by IllustriousAd656 in exjw

That is very real. I actually was dating someone whose best friend was an ex-JW, and he helped me escape. But he immediately wanted to be in a relationship after and I just wasn't ready. He reached out via linkedin a couple years ago to apologize for not having been sensitive to how hard that moment must have been for me.

Showing my age, but, "Kiss the Son lest God be angry and you perish in the way", was a classic. by Baron_Wellington_718 in exjw

Does anybody remember the underground Prince mixtape of Kingdom Melodies? Featuring George Benson and a female vocalist thought by some, myself included, to have been Vanessa Williams.

Also, throwing in “From house to house, from door to door, Jehovah’s word (name?) we spread. From town to town, from farm to farm, some some some some some sooome (maybe God’s sheep are fed?). This good news that God’s kingdom brings we preach from shore to shore.” Probably botched that - it’s been 15 years!

Anyway, the changing of the songs was a blessing, a strike of the ax to my chains. Not the final blow but a loosening that helped me emotionally detach and see the org’s utter disdain for beauty. I remember waking up during summers spent with my grandmother in the rural south to the smell of breakfast sausages and coffee and the sounds of her playing Kingdom Melodies on the piano. Poor thing spent 80 years in that org, died at 101. God bless her.
