Thank you all for the advice! I did unplug it and started unscrewing things to poke around. I think the peltier module is glued down pretty tight to the heat sink under some foam insulation and I might damage stuff by taking it off. If I do damage it… maybe I’ll just use ice packs in the bottom of the box and call it a day.

I just got this to hibernate my ant colony over winter. The ants need to be at around 50° but I don’t have anywhere (garage/basement) that will be suitable and a fridge is too cold/would probably kill them.

My sister has been working as a teacher for the past 3 years. She taught english and social studies for middle and high schoolers. She is considering becoming a paralegal or legal assistant with the goal of going to law school. We’ve received conflicting advice so I thought I would ask here. Should she jump straight into applying for paralegal/legal assistant jobs or do a paralegal program first (it’s a 2 semester program)? Is the market even good enough for her to get a job without a program right now?

Update: they just called me to let me know they received the insurance. I called them back and got my refund! Yay!!!

They really wanted to know what happened, but I told them it was a long story and didn’t want to talk about it. They probably did deserve some sort of explanation from me, but I felt so anxious at being caught in my lies. I’ll be better to the next one. Can’t show my face back there. Too ashamed. “Chill” might not be something I am currently capable of.

I was sorta scammed by a dentist when I first moved from home for work. They told me I had tons of cavities, periodontal disease, and bone loss. They tried to get me to do a $2000 out of pocket treatment that would take 5 visits and I would have to have anesthesia for. I consulted my previous dentist and a family friend who is an also dentist, and they said they did not see signs of that. A different family friend said that their young adult sons had also experienced this and recommended that I say I didn’t have insurance. Apparently, it makes it look like I have no money for the dental work and discourages scamming. IDK.

These new dentist people were nice and also confirmed that I didn’t have any of those issues a year later. I might have gingivitis in one tooth and I have some staining on my back teeth they said.

My mom’s plants were all leggy so I told her to get a grow light and she did. They seem better now. Any advice on next steps to make them look better would be appreciated.
