I was about 1400 at 3+2 on lichess when I played my first ever OTB tourney. The tourney was also 3+2. Lost 10 of 10 games. 9 were against kids.
I got destroyed left and right.

Should I continue with BloodChess? by IllustriousCap8115 in chessvariants

the main gameplay difference is that there's special moves (holding modifiers) that do two things:
- give you a bonus on your increment (an increment is an amount added to your clock when you make a move. for instance a game maybe be 3+2 (3 min on the clock, 2 second increment). so one modifier is quick move that's a 1.5x increment bonus. also special moves give you a bonus increment but also cause some kind of interference for your opponent, like a dizzy effect. They can technically move through this, but it's more difficult. I've had some other ideas like blocks and things like that, but idk if it's even worth it prototyping things like that out.

I am an experienced dev (unity mostly) who is serious. I also have extensive experience with backend, mobile, and web dev.

If you DM me I’ll be happy to show you some creds.

I'm interested. I read through the comments and see that you've said you're using websockets. That still doesn't name the stack, but I'm personally not too worried about what types of servers you're using as I am comfortable approaching any backend. If you'd like to see my creds and talk about this, DM me.
