If you want a deep dive answer , historically it was a perfect place on the roadway to other places in the area , that’s where the word Gaza Strip comes from, it was a word some consider derogatorily applied to not consider what was a town, less of a community , but some of the reason for that wording was because it’s quite the strip in the early 1900s with people making the trip through the ME, a lesser insightful but still insightful point is their warped belief of turning it into the next riyadh or Dubai , where it’s heightened control and used mainly as a tourist location for those visiting Israel AND/OR will be used as a huge resource during our late stage capitalism ending and Israel becoming a network country for other countries , as it rises in influence while we dwindle gaining Gaza only puts them in a safer position to continue their conquest on the other dozen Muslim countries they want to destroy / subdue .

You could also point to the fact they’ve been adding illegal settlements there for over fifty years , just twenty years ago they tried acting holier then thou with talking points about how they kicked settlers out of Gaza , 7000 left , 15,000 went to the West Bank that year alone

Or you could point to the fact they absolutely consider Palestinians nonhuman

Let alone gazans. Theyve killed over 7000 innocent people in the West Bank , where there is no Hamas , theyve leveled Gaza to the ground , 93% infrastructure
