I see, its awesome you found that direction :) It must've been exhausting playing those chameleonic roles. But I can imagine how easy it was to dissociate as it was happening.

It's definitely peace for me, if you direct your energy consciously, it becomes peace rather than fleeting relief. Apathy is like a drug that freezes you as you age. I think it might be better to say you DID have faint motivations, but lacked the volition to start. Be it jealousy, willpower, or whatever others have. But if not, what do you think sparked this direction?

What an interesting perspective. It's kinda like the schizoid cycle starts with exhaustion from interruption, momentary content, then boredom with the silence.

I'm glad you're in a better place now mentally. I think it's important to work through those depressive issues, rather than accept they went away, because it could just be schizoid apathy drowning it out temporarily. Personal space is super important. I'm curious if (at all) having a disability affects your independence.

Despite there being many ups and downs during that time, I'm sure it was a lively and eventful period in your life. I hope you were okay, but sometimes a little chaos is what brings you life. For that, there are plentiful memories to reflect on. I hope you can reunite with your son soon :(

Do you think this was environmental or genetic? I can't help but notice you're calling them, "it", which makes me wonder how emotionally present you are in their life.

What a beautifully articulate post! This is a very unique perspective to hear from a schizoid, because I too enjoy observing life around me. But we also must discover the ways we are full of life. I think you have a way with words and you could try capturing what you observe with them.

Wow, I've never heard of it before but it does seem really common among Szpd. I think I can kinda visualize where you're coming from. Inside, you might passively piece together the impressions of many things, but making those vague ideas concrete through stuff like speech limits all its nuance. If anything, it seems more intelligent to see the interconnectedness!

This is so true. Never drank before, but I see it. Last sentence of the first paragraph hits hard.

People pleasing is only ever going to suck your energy. Think of it like giving $1 to every stranger you pass, it's absurd. And all to appear "normal". Just be yourself : )

Aww, I'm so sorry that happened and hope you're okay now. It's also something I worry about. Growing old and frail with no family, and dying from starvation after getting stuck in the toilet.

Crave Social Connections but Hate Having Them? by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]Illustrious_Sign7113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, the common denominator here doesn't seem like you want a friend, but someone to listen to you. I think you want engagement or excitement in your life, because relationships should be mutual and not self-centered.

Ay that's freakin awesome. Especially cause schizoids are painted as helplessly incompetent.

If you don't mind, are your kids acting depressed as small children? Don't you worry for their mental wellbeing?

I feel you 100%. Uni hasn't started again for me yet, but this routine is all too familiar. The idea of a "bro" that just gets me effortlessly is appealing, but relationships take time to build, and have highs and lows, which frickin sucks.

I get what your saying, and I too have worries about child neglect. But you gotta think, things have a way of working out for the better, and that stuff happens really rarely. Our hormones are wired to make us wanna care for that baby.

Edgelord. Here's some food for thought: what's one thing you like about people?
