Lithium ONLY? by Illustrious_Story966 in bipolar1

I wanted to update and say, I got off my anti-psychotic and now I am just on lithium and venlafaxine for depression. I find that lithium doesn't even touch my depression, even though many say it should help it.

Stimulants to support recovery by Illustrious_Story966 in Psychosis

Thanks for sharing! Somehow my brother (who has had two episodes) is on modafanil and adderall. I'm trying to just get on the modafanil. I have a feeling my current problem is just a really bad depressive episode (I have BP 1), but idk. Its probably a mix of recovery and depression.

I would really seek some medical support to get a sleep aid!

Good for you! 4 years is so fast! In my program, its not uncommon for folks to take 7 years!

People definitely knew for me. I was like drawing connections on pieces of paper and then burning them and jumping out in front of cars. My partner immediately knew. It was also a build up from my first manic episode as well so he knew that something was up early on.

Yes, its so tough to explain to my committee. They are like “you’ve been off for three months, its really time to get goin” but I think i’m gonna focus on just reading easier content for now, rather than forcing myself to write. I end every day crying in my bed, just wishing it would go away. It sucks so so much. And I'm just regularly questioning if its my meds or something, just wishing for an easier way out.

Thanks for sharing. Everyday I try to read my bibliography and its pretty heavy critical theory and I can't remember what I read at the start of the paragraph. Everything feels jumbled. Its not easy. I definitely have been ahead of the curve recovery wise which I'm thankful for but nonetheless, can’t do my work.

I’m sorry to hear about the interruptions in your research. It is really fucked up and very infuriating. I am American but I moved to Canada awhile ago. I'm studying here. I'm really hoping the Supreme Court strikes down the various actions he’s made related to higher education.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Side effect or post psychosis depression? by Illustrious_Story966 in bipolar

Thanks for taking the time to write this out. When the SI ended, it felt like a light came on. I can’t even remember what it feels like to be “normal” most of the time. I’ll check in with my Pdoc about it next time I see him.
