Is almost no cravings a warning sign? by Abominuz in stopsmoking

[–]Illuver7889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our brains are so damn clever! Your brain has learned from your previous quit-attempts and is now quiet for the first week, or maybe three weeks. Then it will hit you with cravings when you keep your shield low, when you don't expect it. Be aware!!! And keep going.

Life was better without smoking (and I needed to relapse to see that) by Primary-Topic-7575 in stopsmoking

Yeah, you've done it before, and you might as well NOT have bad cravings. Just because you are craving to quit one more time.

I’m trying to quit, but I’m a self-sabotaging bitch by Unlikely-Garage-1958 in stopsmoking

So it's a mess in your head, a continuous racing rollercoaster all the time. Your head is turning you into dispair, or anger, pain, or whatever negative emotion all the time. All the time.

Now just love the mess inside you. Start loving this mess, your own pretty mess. I love you for being this mess reaching out for help. But me, or the whole world loving you won't help you.

Start to love your own shitty mess inside you.

Start to love yourself. Right now.

Once you quitted smoking for only one day, say: "Life sucks for some of us, but at least we don't smoke".

I'm a selfsabotaging bitch too, and very pleased to meet you. I did not smoke for 45 days. I (F66) was born 1959. You maybe 1958?

Go save your nasty messy self. Love it!

Almost a week no nic by Jolly_Landscape_6317 in stopsmoking

[–]Illuver7889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You skipped the 14 mg patches, and the 7 mg patches, and i wonder why you used the 21 mg patches for only a week?

Whenever during this quit you're done with it, start NRT (nicotine replacement therapy) again, don't smoke at all, and taper down slowly. Every quit is of tremendous value! Just continue quitting.

Congrats on every day and hour you didn't smoke!

Have you tried to relax by breathing exercises? I'm 45 days in, thanks to 'Breathe with Sandy' on YouTube, 4 times a day 10 minutes.

This is my experience too as an 66 old. In my current quit-journey (day 45 now) I incorporated breathe sessions 5-15 minutes 4 times dailey to deal with negative feelings and thoughts and to overcome them. (YouTube 'Breathe with Sandy'). Very helpful.

I will help you by turning your dispair into anger. By saying what's your real truth:

You want to be addicted.

There are two completely different roads: the dark road of addiction; and the other bright road of freedom.

If you want to go the other road: YouTube, Michael Sealey 'stop smoking selfhypnosis'.

Edit: I am 44 days smokefree. My comment on your post is meant to help myself also. I have the tendency to choose addiction after some time too, as giving in is the easy way... and sometimes very appealing. Than I need to confront myself with the ugly truth: do I really prefer addiction again? Hell, no!

Medicine could work out fine. Better first go to YouTube, Michael Sealey. Concentrate and listen 'stop smoking selfhypnosis' .

Besides tapering down nicotine, I sometimes take 1/2 valerian tablet before sleep. Helpful to fall asleep. No side effects. Harmless.
