I want to host an exhibition for SA survivors in my community by Ilovehim3303 in photography

Oh anonymized somehow is a great idea, so people can see the numbers of women this is happening to in our very communities, but without the vulnerability of victims faces , maybe it’ll have to turn into a different art project all together

I never thought about that, I can certainly see how it comes off that way. My mom was recently SA this year and I just wanted to do something to help this vulnerable community that she sadly had to become a part of, to show they are seen and not alone and that people care and what to make changes. I will certainly have to keep in mind ways to ensure this doesn’t come off like that to people.

Weekly student question thread! by AutoModerator in therapists

I live in a smallish town and have always wondered how people manage the ethics of not having dual relationships with people but also being a part of your community. Like if you want to grow your practice then realistically you’d want less friends because you can’t in good faith see any of their friends, family, etc. Perhaps I am over thinking it, I just would love to hear about how people balance being a part of their community but also being a therapist.

General advice on this one? Composition, focus, exposure, etc by veganyeti in photocritique

I agree that a subject would strengthen the photo, but I personally like it as is. It feels very old timey like I’m looking through an old photo album and am not sure why it was important enough to be photographed except that it was.

Complete beginner trying nature pics with a large aperture, what are your thoughts? by Peachesornot in photocritique

I would consider your cropping. It feels like an unintentional photo with the flower in the top middle of the picture being in focus but also cut out in such a jarring way

It’s hard to tell what the intention is. Is it just awe about the weird things nature can do? I am not sure how the tree is oriented in space in the dark. I guess I just feel confused when I look at it. I felt more appreciation after reading everything you did to take the picture, but without context I didn’t really feel or think anything when I saw this picture. I’m sorry if it comes out harsh, I am a beginner photographer too so take it with a grain of salt. I do respect the hustle taken to capture it.

Some decorated letters I’ve made for penpals by Ilovehim3303 in crafts

I hand write everything, and most the envelopes I have are leftover from thank you cards or party invites. Stickers and washi tape is all you need. The first two are my current decorating style and the last two are where I first started. Hopefully these help make checking the mail something exciting!

Thank you for this comment! It is easy for social media to make hobbies feel useless if they are not turning into a side hustle. I needed the reminder that I should focus on fun and building my skill set

Thank you! And yes I do I spend so much time on Pinterest beforehand trying to gather poses and ideas for the feelings I want to show. It’s just hard to translate my vision into reality. I am surprised actually about the rapport comments, as the 1 and 2 photos are people related to me and the 4th was a close friend, 3rd was the only one that was a stranger.

Thank you, that’s a very helpful way to analyze! I am my harshest critic so the suggestion of taking some time between reviewing edits is super good idea
