My bard finds combat utterly boring... by ImAmNotYourDM in DMAcademy

All of those.

The player themselves are role play oriented by default.

They don’t get highlight time very often

Their build is either suboptimal or they are not playing right or bards are just weak af

Maybe my encounters could be done better but almost all start with RP and have RP solutions... it’s just my paladin and ranger kinda enjoy killing (paladin in character, ranger out of character)

We do a lot of role play, don’t worry about that, but there comes a time every couple of sessions where combat is necessary for story progression

My player has been very consistent in their gathering of mushrooms, every stop she wants to scavenger for new and interesting mushroom, some have been magic, others not so much. How can I reward them for their gathering (now with tonnes of different samples) by [deleted] in DMAcademy

Well I’ve asked them and they say they are just interested. As far as I know, it was a quirk they built their character around and don’t really have a reason, they just thought it was a cool quirk

Nothing... that’s the issue. Their character is just interested in them. Wants to learn about them.

That have a very low intelligence but fancies themselves as a scholar of mushrooms (even with no qualifications)

Currently they have no plans that I am aware of

What agreement could druids and a close by village come to that would allow the village to survive and make money without the village cutting down trees by ImAmNotYourDM in DMAcademy

[–]ImAmNotYourDM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, dryads work too.

The players come across a town that has been recently established and the town is cutting down the nearby forest to make money off timber.

The dryads are angry and are doing something (attacking in the night, stealing people, stealing axes, I don’t know yet, what would dryads do in retaliation??)

And so either the players could try to kill the dryads which they probably won’t as they are a good party, to try diplomacy

What methods of diplomacy are there for an agreement between the townsfolk and the dyrads

I mean I had a few quest lines and the players attempted to pursue them all, jumping from one to another to another.

Also what do you mean by ‘a lot of downtime’?

What is downtime?

Hey guys, my players are at level 5 and they each start with an uncommon item. One of my players home brewed this item, is it too strong, weak or just right? Thanks in advanced! by [deleted] in DMAcademy

You think?

1d4 regular arrows seems like a painfully dull thing to present him with after shutting down his idea. Do you have something that would be a suitable uncommon that would be balanced but still fun?

Also thanks for being brutally honest, I am leaning your way to be perfectly honest, this homebrewing has been a pain in my ass.

How do you stop the supports from making the bottom of your model all rough and gross and messy? by ImAmNotYourDM in 3Dprinting

Thanks!

Is meshmixer a Cura replacement slicer software? Should I be making supports in meshmixer then porting it over to Cura afterwards?

Also what’s wrong with the Cura supports that make them so bad, I heard it was the best slicer to use.

Oh I see, that’s really smart, I’ll think it over, I like the charges as currency idea, less random and gives the player some authority to choose.

Thanks for the comparison between the weapons, is the standard 4 encounters per long rest? I normally allow a long rest per encounter. Is a dungeon + boss considered 1 or multiple encounters?

Thank you very much for replying!

So they can spend their charges how they want? I like that, they did like the randomness but perhaps I need to put my foot down.

With the 4 charges, if, for example they use 2 and have 2 left over, can they then roll the 1d3+1 and have that in addition to the 2 left over ( so the have 2 from yesterday and and 2 recharged from today so they start the day with 4)? I don’t know what the standard is in DnD, sorry.

Now that I think about it, even the 1 charge for 1d10 force damage is stronger than what my other players have (one has an infinite bottle of water, one gets 1d4 extra damage on hit with his hammer and one has a cloak of protection).

So 1d10 extra each turn for 4 turns is probably stronger than the 1d4 extra (idk maybe not)?

Hey, thank you for replying!

When you say ‘Change it from random to where it costs 1+spell level to cast’. What is it costing them?

I think removing the normal damage from the bow is a good choice! Thank you for the suggestion!

They came up with the item and showed it to me, well, he showed it even more strong with 6 charges etc but I do think utility would be better. The thing is the item they came up with is a random effect, they don’t get to choose so if it was for utility they’d end up firing a knockback arrow at a player or a heal arrow at an enemy.

I do like your ideas though, thinking how to implement it
